Well that was a decent flight, although Master TC was determined to stay awake the entire time, finally falling asleep on decent. And the pax in front of me insisted on having their overhead light on for the entire flight.

Pre departure champagne was Piper H, but once that was depeleted, they started serving Charles H during the meal.

Prawn starter, Rogan Josh for me, then chocolate cake for dessert.

I did our arrivals card before we left Australia so entry was nice and easy (though not particularly friendly). Then we hiked over to the Jewel to check into the Yotel. Check in was positively glacial but we were shortly in our room. We got the family room with a double and bunk beds.

The mood lighting is interesting. And the bathroom is clear glass with a curtain you can pull across. They also provide toothbrushes and toothpaste which is appreciated at 1am.

I feel you! First thing MasterC always says once we get to the airport is where's the lounge! Admittedly, the Gentleman is usually pretty keen on knowing too

We managed a relatively decent sleep before 'I'm hungry' drove us out of bed. McDonald's hot cakes and ice cold Milo for the kids, and Toast Box for us. Not much opens before 10.

My plans to catch up with a friend in Singapore fell through so we spent the day exploring the airport. Once we checked out of the Yotel we headed to the Disney shop, then the waterfall.

Then on to the butterfly garden.

After that the kids needed a rest so we spent some time in the Krisflyer lounge. So much nicer than the previous version! I especially like that the bathroom has a child only toilet and a sink at kids height.


The kids were excited to go on the train so we hopped on over to T2 to look at the sunflower garden, then I retired to the lounge while TV took the kids on a few more train trips.

Headed to the gate for boarding to find that it was on 'final call'. Security was so much easier than previously. Liquids stayed in the bag, no issues with the kids water bottles or medications. I was dreading it but it was a breeze.
On board we settled into the front row and set the kids up with something to watch. More champagne for me

The meal was really good, I chose the biryani and it did not disappoint. The satay for the kids was also good but unfortunately both were tired and not in the mood for eating.

We've unfortunately hit a bit of a dud week in terms of weather, it's been raining constantly. Really pulled the pin on my plan to laze by the pool drinking coughtails. Yesterday we had lots of dry spells but not looking so good today. At least the kids can go play in the kids club.

The weather is looking up!
Today we took a private tour which included pick up from the hotel, long boat out to James Bond island, a sea canoeing trip, lunch at the floating fishing village then a stop at the monkey temple on the way back to the hotel. It rained briefly during the canoe but otherwise we got very lucky.

The hotel has turned out to be a great option with the two kids. They only have eight family rooms and the book out quickly but it's been perfect for us. The website said the second room had bunk beds so I bought along the inflatable travel bed, but they seem to have upgraded to twin beds. So Master TC is sleeping in a bed for the first time.


The master has a huge bed, and a bathroom with a massive tub. My only complaint is that the toilet has a glass door

And the showers have old fashioned controls not a mixer tap.


Also. There's no where to store your clothes there is a cupboard to hang items , but no where to unpack the rest of your items. So the kids packing cubes are lined up on their bedroom floor.

Beautiful bath tub but old style plumbing. Yet 'modern style' glass door for toilet. Honestly, whoever thought toilet glass doors was a good thing needs to just, uninvent them. And this no drawers thing I've noticed has crept in in Europe as well. Along with those damn doors.

I think it's a vibe they're going for as it only opened in 2019. I think it's supposed to be a tribute to the mining history of the region.
But no drawers is such a pain, especially as people do seem to do longer stays. 12 nights and no where to put my clothes.

Last day in Khao Lak today, we head back to Singapore first thing tomorrow.
We ended up being very lucky with the weather, a few showers but nothing that impeded our enjoyment of the pool or getting out and about. The staff have been lovely, particularly with the kids, even when at their grumpiest.
We've taken our daily included meal at the beach restaurant every night for dinner and they've been very accommodating particularly as Master Tomcat has been very fussy about food and has fallen asleep during half the meals he was very disappointed to wake up in the hotel room last night and realise he missed out on ice cream.

We've had some lovely meals while we've been here. A short walk to the beach gives you a number of restaurants, all of which rate well. We tried two and liked the second one (by Leo) so much we went back multiple times. Much cheaper than eating at the hotel
