Yesterday's made-to-order menu was:

Thai green curry chicken with fragrant rice

Grilled barramundi with lemon basil mash and tomato salsa

The barramundi was delicious. I've always enjoyed what they've had on offer, but it looks like they've responded to feedback about not having a western option.

Both good dishes, but the curry was crazy hot for me. I eat mildly spicy food, this was authentic Thai-hot. The kid (~15) next to us had to get a glass of milk and have his parents finish it.

About time someone had the balls to put a spicy green curry out on a menu! :D

On a more reserved note, I do know that the chilli level can be a problem and a polariser. It may have been courteous for the waiter / chef (or proactive of the patron) to ask / request the desired heat level before preparing the dish.

Singapore Lounge menu changed. Last night on offer was a Sambal Squid with coconut rice or Minute steak with cauliflowers. Menu seem to change every 3 weeks according to staff

Currently in the SIN Emirates lounge waiting for QF6 and just as a reference point for those considering using this lounge as an alternative to the Qantas lounge.

There are uncontrollable kids everywhere. Running around, crying etc etc. Out of the 7 functioning desktops 5 are used by kids.

I am too tired to move and I cant get wi-fi to work on my phone otherwise I would have been out of here. Wonder what the Qantas lounge is like tonight.

I take it you must have posted this message on one of the two remaining working desktops (are some desktops also out of service?)

One desktop out of the 8 desktops could not connect to internet.

Most people are gone now. Lounge is quiet again.

Stop complaining - at least you have a desktop, unlike at the other lounge. :)

Food was OK. Chicken snitzel, cod, grilled turkey, prawns, satays etc. A good variety.

The Qantas lounge was quite good last week as well with grilled chicken and barramundi as options.

Its not till you try other airlines offerings, that you really do realise that Qantas does a very good job,

last night they must have fed a couple of hundred people, the food was always plentiful , very fresh, the wait on the cooked items, just a couple of minutes,

i mean are we starting to expect too much, i was very impressed by the standard of both the food and beverage, as well as the service.

your're being waaay to rational !! lol (not a dig...I actually agree)...QF bagging is truly a national sport...and will continue to so...until it 'shuts up shop' because of oz wages/retraints/conditions/budgets/unions....of course ozzies are happy to buy/accept goods n services of other countries that manipulate/exploit their citizens...all im saying is....LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE..THATS MY 2014 BIT OF WISDOM

i was talking to one of the team leaders and she mentioned that most of the staff in the lounge earn no more than 1500 singapore a month, that is the going rate for a 9 to 10 hour day,

as little as that for putting with a more than fair share of overweight over boozed rude people, and before someone goes on about QF not paying enough or exploiting the workers there, its all outsourced to one of the major hotel chains.

all im saying is...don't complain about it if/when QF becomes a 'virtual' international airline...as VA does and 'feeds/survives' off its 'partners' infrastructure/routes/lounges..QF is a business doing its best to survive...its clearly evident that ozzies are very resistant to change when 'icons' need to change due to the world of change!!

Sitting in the lounge now waiting for 82 to depart. The whole Singapore airport experience is just amazing with QF lounge beating the SQ lounge (also darn good) used earlier in the week for our Silk Air flight to Koh Samui.
Glad to read that the lounge is being filled as seems close to the size of Sydney's with QF flights a thing of the past. Hopefully not just jetstar pax with no margins.
Funny how my wife was going to not have a coughtail for the first time when free. Twisted her arm into having it without having to see the sun go down.

Thinking back I would say the QF lounge is very close if not equal to the SQ lounge

However the SQ SIN lounges will be renovated shortly into the new design like the SYD SQ lounge

SQ lounge in its only home port...seems to acceptable....yet we expect another airline (QF) to be better in its overseas ports...and quite frankly...I find the new SQ lounge in syd underwhelming...it all boils down to personal taste

That's roughly the going rate for this type of jobs in SIN.

Minimum wage?
