SIN DO 2014, January 16-20, 2014 Singapore
It's an FT do ... based on "Martin Luthor King" day it's been happening every year for a decade:Details please?
Does that mean you are coming to SIN do?
Same menu tonight with the pork belly bun and hokkein mee on the too order menu.I suspect Johnk would have been happier with tonight's selections.
The plated dishes were more western Asian choices, as was the hot dish.
But as they say the proof is in the pudding, or creme bruleee.
Very Western I would say, admittedly more so than my last visit. Would like to see some more 'normal' salads though.
So you are saying I am not allowed to comment on the food available in the lounges?CANT THIS THREAD BE MOVED BACK TO ORIGINAL AND LET MANNEJI AND JOHNK TO FIGHT IT OUT AMONGST THEMSELVES WITH A NEW THREAD ABOUT cooking ?
Of course, what they do at EKville is to only put small amounts under thye baine marie at a time ... and have a chef hanging over ... as soon as the plate is nearly empty or tired it gets refreshed. The only one I would think fair is lamb, which if cooked pink and rested well, can sit for ages without drying out quickly (well, at least the inside, not the outside...) ...

I'm here for the first time at the moment and for what it's worth I reckon it's great. I've had the Chinese bun with pork belly, the black sticky rice with mango and coconut and I'm currently stuffing my face with a couple of lamingtons. The drinks are great, it's peaceful and the staff seem generally good.
I hope they are western Lamingtons. :mrgreen:I'm here for the first time at the moment and for what it's worth I reckon it's great. .
Pasta, salad and dessert do not count as Western options.
You are hardly misunderstood John. The western options aren't to your liking so you play the victim card, trying to belittle those who don't agree with your POV.

I'm sorry but apparently lamingtons don't count as western, even if they were invented in Australia.
Dear, oh dear.
Now I know for next time my lunch/dinner can consist of dinki di Australian lamingtons only and I will be satisfied.
Thanks....
I hope they are western Lamingtons.
Now you are confusing me. Those 3 dishes are about as Western as they get.Come on everyone knows only meat and 3 vege and steak, eggs and chips are western food. How could anyone disagree. I'll hear none of this Asian fusion, Australian tastes have matured out of the 1970s rubbish.
Baklava, spanokopita, moussaka. All non-western tripe.

What is your point? You like Asian and if I dont like it I cant say anything?
You are the expert on Greek food as well now?Sorry they are not western at all Eastern European and almost Asian. In fact baklava is Turkish as well, making it Asian.

Anything else you like to set me straight on as I get history totally confused? Perhaps that Alexander the Great is a Slav? Or that Aghia Sophia was always a mosque? And all those wonders in Asia Minor are Turkish right?
