If I call QF will they be able to do this booking as one ticket, or reduce the taxes/charges... or would I be wasting my time?
It's quite likely that you cannot, but it's worth asking.

I believe this is a case of EK trying to preserve seats for customers originating DXB, so do not allow a connecting flight to be booked on one ticket (and thus these seats don't show up if you search ZRH-SIN). Note you are not protected with two seperate bookings.
 
Yes - it's trailing 12 months. When you go to do the transfer, I believe it will look at the current date, and presumably any transfers made up to 364 days prior to the current date, for a total of points transferred, and then subtract that total from the 600K cap to tell you what you have left.

Had it not been for Qantas' subpar system resulting in some (most) consultants being unable to see reward seats (that are showing online), I probably wouldn't be in this position.

An example - recently I wanted to change my awards seat on BA in PE (now already flown) to either a QR business or EK first seat as there were some seats showing online in the multi-city search portal.

Knowing Qantas and previous dealings on the phone, they want points in the account that made the booking, prior to the call being made. One time I called to make a change and surprisingly on that occasion, they could see the reward seats and added it to my existing booking - but even though I did a points transfer whilst I was on the call, they said that it takes a few hours to "show up" on their end.

Knowing this previous experience, I asked my wife to transfer me some points to be ready for the call. Then when I call, the "expected" response from Qantas -
"These seats are not available for existing bookings",
"There are no reward seats available on the route / date you're looking at online" blah blah.

Obviously then I HUACA a few more times and unluckily got the same consultant twice, so I hung up immediately as I knew it would have been a waste of time continuing the call.

It's because of Qantas' broken system in that we've almost used up all of the 600k allocation of points transfer quota for the 12 months. Had it not been for that, we probably wouldn't be in this position.

I guess I'll just have to wait until Feb to be able to do more larger points transfers.

I've just booked a codeshare flight with Cathay, so flight starting with CX, would I be able to access any lounges with a complimentary qantas lounge pass (from a credit card)?
 
Is the "Where can I go?" tool just a scam?

I've been looking at some Classic Rewards to Europe, plenty of Cathay Pacific show up, and every single time I click on one to book:
We couldn't find that combination of flights to $CITY, they may have sold out. There's other flight options to choose from below.

I mean, I wasn't expecting any, but this is just teasing.

MMB allows you to only change travel dates but not routing. Can I either get a call centre to try the change or can I cancel my return leg (and still keep the outbound intact) so I can make a separate booking for the return leg?

Call centre. Change fee is less than the cancellation fee.

I'm a newbie to the forum - sort of - have lurked in and out over the years and found it very useful without posting - well 15 years and 9 posts I see!!!

Also, not new to QF - am lifetime gold and currently platinum the last few years.

Have a specific question regarding cancellation - trying to go to a conference in the US in February but have a bit of uncertainty in my life.

Am I reading it right - if I book Business Flex - the fare is fully refundable if I cancel and if I book Business Saver there is a $380 fee to refund?

Correct on Business Flex, but Business Saver should be $300 to refund as far as I know.
 
Last week, the lounge attendant at QF F SIN wrote "# Duplicate" under my FF number of the paper BP ... what does it mean/signify? He wrote this after I asked if it is possible for me to get a shadow & an exit row (I know, I got greedy, but I did get an exit row and a shadow though) ... Let me see if I can find that BP, may have shredded it ..
 
Newly minted Qantas World Platinum with a question on the domestic lounge access on arrival perk. Are there any guest privileges to use such a perk? For instance, if my partner is flying with me on QF to PER, could we both access the QF J lounge on arrival or would it just be me? Another related question I have is how does lounge access on arrival work when travel crosses days? For instance, if I were to take the red eye from PER to SYD could I use the J lounge on arrival despite the arrival date being different than the departure date? What about flights like QF12 where you arrive 2 days later versus when you depart in LAX?

As for guesting:
When accessing the domestic lounges, you may bring two guests and up to two children aged 4-17 years. Guests need to be travelling on a Qantas, Jetstar, oneworld or eligible partner marketed and operated flight that same day.
 
One other question: I'm flying FinnAir from Frankfurt to Sydney (connecting in Helsinki and Singapore). I just received word that my flight to Sydney has now been delayed by 12 hours meaning I'll be eligible for EU261. My question is who should I submit the EU261 compensation to: Qantas the operating carrier of the flight that will cause the delay, or FinnAir the marketing carrier of this flight, and the operating carrier of the flights to HEL and SIN?

Update: contacted QF (the airline operating the flight which caused the 12 hour delay necessitating EU261 compensation) by the feedback form. They got back to me within a day agreeing to cover the 600€ compensation for EU261 and hotel and transfer reimbursement, totalling $1300 AUD. After some back and forth to get banking details sorted the monies have now landed in my account.
It's not just JQ, it's also QF. QF moved my flight back from ADL by just 10 minutes and I called them up and got moved onto a connecting flight via CBR to ensure I earned my loyalty bonus this year (am 10 short).

Can we use domestic lounge before an intl flight (BP is Int'l). Reason for considering is a friend works at the airport and wants to catch up before we go and since we can't unclear Int'l customs I'm seeing if we can goto the dom lounge for a while.

(MEL so terminals are next door).

With recent guest changes, unless your friend is travelling he won't be able to enter the lounge

okay, the way I read your earlier post was you wanted to meet them at the domestic lounge.

I can't see anything on the qantas club lounge access eligibility page that says the QF, JQ, oneworld or EK flight has to be domestic (or international for that matter).

Im not trying to get my friend in. What i mean is can I go to MEL Domestic Q Pub with an International BP. Then head out to meet my friend and after go through Int'l security etc.

Im not arriving at MEL, but departing. Going MEL > SIN but because my friend cant meet up early, I can't go into T2 airside early (using QF J lounge there). So instead I wonder if i can go into QF P on the domestic T1 while waiting for my friend to go on break then head back out since domestic you can freely go in and out of airside.

Yes, you should be able to without issue. Same day QF flight out of MEL would be fine. They'd probably remind you to go over to international of course, but no reason why you can't that I can tell.
