The Lady and her Lord hit Singapore

Bloody hot, even for Singas. But super clear sky.

I almost retraced some of my steps from the day before to retake some photos. But settled for the G&Ts instead šŸ¤£
So Iā€™ve just discovered that the artificial lighting in the QF F SIN lounge showers is this colour (even though itā€˜s overcast with rain showers)! I canā€™t say I that could tell the difference between dawn, noon and dusk settings but ā€offā€ was off. Quite nice touch actually.

The shower rooms are about the same size / shape as my ensuite bathroom. Iā€™m thinking I should redecorate so every morning Iā€™m flying F class somewhere! šŸ˜€

Today's adventures were less strenuous with a visit to the Changi Chapel & musuem, then off to Changi Hawker for lunch. Afterwards headed to the Long Bar for the obligatory Singapore Sling. I popped to the bathroom and left the Lord in charge,, so Yards to Tiger Beer were ordered. next stop Singapore Flyer and enjoyed another Singapore Sling on board. Chinatown for dinner.

Over the last couple of years of no OS travel for Saturday night dinner we would pick a country/region or town and recreate The local dishes we enjoyed whist travelling and reminisce. So to my joy found some Hawker orange plates to really go with our next theme of cooking up a Singaporean dinner

Today we started off with a michelin star hainese chicken curry puff (thanks to Adam Liaw's recommendation) and well worth it then headed to the Former Ford Factory, where the English surrendered Singapore to the Japanese in WW2, food at the local food centre. Spent the afternoon wandering around the Botanic Gardens before heading to the last stop of the day Tanglin Gin Distillery (Singapores first Gin Distillery) PS their Singapore Gin is a blend of botanicals homouring their Chinese, Malay and Indian heritage and should be found at First Choice in Australia. As leaving a rain deluge occured so slightly soaked but a quick change before some more delicious food. Does anyone think Qantas will allow us to swap some of our baggage allowance for extra personal allowance given how much we have eaten šŸ˜›

Loving all the food photos as we last visited Singapore in 2019 and our to Germany in 10 days time only gives us a 4 hour stopover. But at least we have booked some local food favourites via Book the Cook on SQ.

Was the Ford Factory air conditioning still set at Arctic temperatures? The staff used to keep scarves on-hand to lend to all the freezing visitors.

The food is what is one of the reasons we keep coming back. Ford Factory not artic anymore but still appreciated the aircon šŸ˜‚

Today we explored some of the Southern Islands (St Johns , lazarus and Kusu Island) blistering hot ..... Again and O am now the proud owner of Singapore Sling coloured sunburn ( even with sunscreen applied) but beautiful scenery and on Kusu spent about an hour enthralled by the widlife including a monkey helping themselves to someones lunch, and the lizard and tortoises being fed by one of the locals who feeds them when she comes to the island to pray. Headed back to chinatown for more food and Tiger beer.

Ouch - hope the sunburn settles soon - it can be so quick, without even noticing.

Today is our last full day so headed to little India for brunch and then to Bugis for some last minute shopping. We have headed to East Coast Food Village for our customary last night chilli crab and decided to try black pepper crab for the first time also and an entree of satay and chicken wings. Since last visit they have put up a fence that impedes the beach view but still a relaxing way to end out trip before the journey home tomorrow arvo šŸ˜

Sounds like you have had a great time. We were in SIN a week or so back but actually didn't do a lot - a combination of it being very hot and probably more importantly we were just very very tired (having had COVID a couple of weeks before we flew out). Whilst we were negative, we both were suffering from fatigue. That said, it was lovely to escape the Canberra winter for a week.
I didn't bother with a trip report as others covered a lot more and had been to all the places. Being a bit of a 'special' birthday for moi we flew F from Sydney, a few days at Raffle, a few at Fullerton and dinner at Odette.

Happy zero borthday!

The Lady and her Lord have returned to rainy and gloomy radelaide. Yesterday was our last day in Singapore so finished off with more delicious food (going to miss my morning kaya, kopi and eggs) grabbed a few last.minutes souvenirs / gifts and then back to the hotel for the dreaded will everything fit in our bags or do we yet again have to buy an extra bag but fortunately fitted in and off to Changi we go. Enjoyed some bao buns in the lounge as well as a merlion blush coughtail. For something different we decide to head home via Perth which meant a night at airport hotel to fill in the 10 hours between arriving and departing. Definately took longer than if we went via sydney or melbourne. Now home unpacking and planning the next big trip which is currently hoping to be Europe for christmas 2023- Jan 2024 thanks for tagging along and ill go back to jealously reading others trip reports šŸ˜‚

Welcome home.
Yes it's pretty cold here at the moment so I've decided to leave Radelade for a month or so. Mind you I'm not sure it's going to be any warmer on the NSW South Coast.

I did the dogleg route home through PER also - since I was booked in whY points flights but so long as the layover is under 24 hrs, itā€™s the same points as QF2/QF82 red-eyes.

Apart from QF72 being 1 hr late (so pretty late to hotel in Perth), Iā€™d do it again and recommend it as a leisurely way home without the o/n flight.

If we went via Perth next time I think Iā€™d stop in Perth for a couple of days to keep the holiday going šŸ˜€

Thanks for the report, a few good tips & really liked the photos
