With major itchy feet the Lady and Lord were swayed by Qantas Double status credit points promo and promptly booked a 8 day J class trip to Singapore from Adelaide via Melborne that happens to coincide with the Lord's birthday tomorrow. Intial flight left us with 1hr 50 min transit in Melbs. After the Lord had some fun times getting home from Perth on a work trip last week that included 2 cancelled direct flights then a triumphant return home to Adelaide via Melbourne he decided this transit time wasn't to his liking. The lovely peiple at the Qantas service desk in Adelaide moved us to the 6.05am flight in Melbourne giving us about 4 hours in transit.

Tbe Lady wasn't thrilled with this early start to her first OS trip since 2019 . So a night at the atura Adelaide airport was booked to allow the Lady a further 20 minutes sleep.

So after a cheeky G&T, Tiger Beer, espresso martini and Moët tbe Lord has been forgiven......for now. Ps there was also dinner and a cheese platter enjoyed.

Off to bed to for an early rise

After an early rise dusted off the passport that had been languishing in the safe for 1027 days checked in then back to room for a coffee. Strolled through security then boarded QF 670 to Melbs breakfast was served (opted for muesli) and the Lord was greeted with Happy Birthday and would we like some champagne with breakfast. The answer was obviously yes. Landed in melbourne and through immigration in about 15 minutes. A quick duty free purchase of a bottle of wine and hit the qantas club. In my humble opinion time doesnt exist in airports so some more champagne was enjoyed at about 9am. Then headed on board QF 35 seats 4E and 4F an enjoyable fligbt with food, drinks and a arvo nap, and given open bottle of white wine to take with us. THEN landed in singapore headed to the hotel where the suprise birthday cake was waiting for the Lord. Off to Maxwell for some Hainese chciken rice and tiger beers . ready for bed for tomorrows adventures. PS just assume there will be Tiger Beer

Todays adventures included dodging the infamous Singapore rain showers. Started the day with a hearty breakfast of kaya toast, kopi and eggs then hit the tourist trail and just as wandering past the Buddha Tooth Relic temple the rain started so after several trips to Singapore and never venturing inside this seemed like the opportune time to check out the temple. Beautiful roof garden and inside was stunning. Once we finished wandered around Chinatown wet markets and stocked up on some dragonfruit at $1 each to enjoy for breakfast during the week. Next stop wandered along Singapore river and enjoyed a durian ice cream then have you really been to Singapore if you haven’t taken a photo of Merlion 😂 the rain decided to make another appearance so a Singapore Sling at The Fullerton was enjoyed. A quick stop and refresh at the hotel and decided to head to a Singapore Premier League match….. which saw the Lion City Sailors triumphant against the Tampines Rovers. A quick dinner of white carrot cake, oyster omelette and charkway teo. After a quick walk through Bugis St decided time to head back to the hotel, after a day of doing 24,000 steps an early night is in order (good thing we remembered to bump up our steps on Qantas well-being app think of all the extra points) now to plan tomorrow’s adventures.

Today started off with a slightly start to the day after enjoy some local fruit for breakfast headed to IMM which is Singapores outlet malll, like most outlet shoping its a bit hit and miss but still managed to grab some bargains. Now if you are worried about the Lord being dragged around shopping dont worry we headed to the Tiger Brewery (this was the third time we had done the Brewery Tour so could almost lead the tour) the Tour ends in the Tiger Tavern so enjoyed a few more beers and i enjoyed a Tiger Sling. For dinner we headed to Lau Pa Sat for the famous Satay street, for a Satay feast as well as a Roti John. After a quick walk to try and work off some satay then back to hotel for bed.

Todays plans includes cyclying along the Changi Jurassic mile so decided to spend some time having a proper look at Jewel without being encumbered with luggage and managed to enjoy a reasonably quiet skypark especially having the skybridge to ourselves for our walk across. Then hired some bikes at Hub and Spoke and enjoyed a ride along the Jurassic mile and kept going til Bedok jetty and back. The Lord then let me know we had just done 25kms not bad given it was my first bike ride since breaking an ankle last year. The Lord was in charge of the photography on this ride so no photos . We then headed to Old Airport road where we promptly undid any good work we had done on the bike ride. Ended the night off with the Gardens By The Bay lightshow which again is spectacular.

Today we decided to head to Sentosa, on the way we stopped at Vivicity to try Jolibees (solely based on Anthony Bourdain's recommendation unfortunately this one of the few times i have to disagree with Anthony) then on to Sentosa to revisit Fort Siloso we walked over on the boardwalk and first impressions was that is a bit sad looking from last visit in 2019. We took a bus to Siloso Point and walked around the old fort (in between visits had seen seen several docos re Singapores efforts in WW2). Afterwards headed to Palawan Beach to see the southermost point of continental Asia. Also enjoyed a couple of beers on the beach. Tonights dinner was fish head curry absolutely delicious. Back at the hotel sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine with slightly sore feet after smashing out 30,000 steps
