With acknowledgement to those not doing it so well, I have to say for the world gone to hell, today was pretty good.
It was a sunny day, cool, abt 18 degrees, and
perfectly still. My neighbourhood (rural town outskirts) is pretty quiet at most times, but these days its - I was going to day deathly quiet - lets say very peaceful. Sound of waves on the cliffs close to me, various birds; I swear I could hear the worms turning in the soil.
I ended up sitting on my upstairs deck with a glass of Henschke Julius reisling (2016) reading one of my text books. Bliss (well, not the text book bit, but you get the idea)
Then, a parade on the footpath below of my neighbors-at-liberty; 4 sets over about an hour, so all the news and gossip exchanged at a respectable distance. We'll all agreed that when this is over, we are going to have the biggest neighbourhood party ever (well, for our neighbourhood, anyway ...)
Even better was the news about our neighbourhood's most elderly and vulnerable couple (both in their 80s). She was rushed to hospital 2 days ago in a serious condition (non viral). News today that the op went well; she was even laughing over the phone (more in relief, I guess) and he sounded like a, well, 40 year old, so pleased. One of the other neighbors has bought flowers on behalf of the neighbourhood for her on their return tomorrow.
