The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

No error for me, took a dummy booking to payment stage.
I would suggest it is related to your browser.
I thought so too, which is why I tried a different browser and a different device - all generated the same error.

Error has stopped happening now with no changes on my side - so looks like it was a temporary glitch server side

thanks for checking

I am currently getting "Access Denied" across all my devices when trying to book a flight on QANTAS
Chrome and Safari, on iPad and Mac

anyone else experiencing this ?
Yes, I've been getting this for a couple of days. It would seem to be tied to a recent comms/security software update.

I have several Windows desktops, some running Win7 and some Win11. The problem occurs when using Win7 with any browser, but when I switched to Win11, using Firefox, the problem has gone away.

I can only assume that the software update has invalidated the use of older operating systems and/or browsers. A bit of a pain, but I guess that's the way of the world.

It will recur, well it does for me in unpredictable ways and it also happens when I try and make a booking with CX.

This leads me to believe it's an Amadeus issue, and yes, it does seem to come and go. It also doesn't seem to like VPN's. I can generally get around it, but I'm still not sure what triggers it. (perhaps it doesn't know either)

I now think it's some half-coughd attempt to prevent hacking and cyber fraud.

I'm surprised that more people aren't reporting this.

This is becoming a big issue for me where UK and AU companies are geoblocking their sites to only allow logins from their home country. For example I have a lot of flybuys points that I wanted to send to Velocity, but flybuys won’t let you login unless in Australia. I complained and they replied that it was a security measure for my protection, to prevent fraud and block cyber attacks.

Pretty confident they got the operating carrier wrong here ;)

I can see where this is coming from, that flight is operated by SunExpress, clearly the Qantas system doesn't have the IATA code for SunExpress so it's instead used the first two letters SU which happens to be the IATA code for Aeroflot.
