The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes.

I had one thing that annoyed me the other day: trying to book a work trip, MEL-TYO and back from HKG to MEL. Travel policy allows me to travel PE, so of course on the QF nonstops on A330s there is no such thing... A year-and-a-half ago I did the same trip (QF79 out and QF30 on the return), but in a Y/J combination that was (1) comparable in cost to a PE round-trip via SYD or HKG, and (2) therefore got approved from work.

So while it's normal that you can't book mixed cabins online, I had our corporate TA try and she said this is no longer possible due to "Qantas system restrictions". Within available fare classes it should have worked out around $2.6k, but best she could do was one-ways adding up to $4.8k (I could have booked both flights plus CX TYO-HKG in between all in J for less than that). Very annoying, now flying via Sydney in PE instead.

This isn't IT as such, this is based on the fare rules.

Past weeks Qantas site has lost the plot when using Apple Safari browser, cleared cache and restarted, all to no avail, get 400 bad request header or cookie too large or your browser and sent a request that this server could not understand size of a request header field exceeds server limit. Maybe Qantas not heard of it! (Safari).

Got this “exclusive” invitation from QF few days ago.
After more than a decade of over 100 flights per year booked directly with them they still don’t know I have lounge access.

Something is wrong with their auto emails atm. I got my "May Qantas Points balance, great offers and our latest news " email today and despite being safely silver and well on my way to Gold, it displays the silver banner up top but then has a message in box below about now being Bronze!

Makes no sense as my frequent flyer anniversary isn't until end of July, and even if I don't make Gold (which I will based on booked travel), I would not fall below silver next year.

Whoever coded the box to request a new FF card, has clearly entered the status as text rather than reading it from my account.

Have never understood why they send the monthly balance email mid month, you think they send it on 1 day of month for the previous months end position.

Having issues with both the app and online seat selection! I'm at T-80 now and trying to secure a good seat for Sunday's QF49 to SFO.
Half the time the website says it is experiencing problems so I can't get into it at the moment. On the app, I have gone through selecting my preferred seat, changing, accepting and confirming (why so many steps are required I don't know) but the app then reverts to my previous seat assignment. I logout and log in again, only to find that the seat I was trying to get is now taken. Rinse and repeat. I suspect it has my new seat selection, but for some reason is unable to display it properly. Don't trust anything atm though, at least until I can get back on the website and check it there. Fingers crossed. Anyone else experience similar issues?

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHY???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Last week as a P1 I got the newsletter with the included "exclusive offer" of (up to) 20% off bookings. Today I see the Platinums are also getting this offer. Despite trying several routes and dates, and attempting the bookings (1) through the links in the offer, (2) direct from my logged in FF account, and (3) direct without logging in, I get exactly the same pricing. Have tried everything from discount PE to full flexible business (looking at BNE-SCL). I even tried making sure it was all QF metal in case the LATAM metal QF codeshares were the problem (even though they should not be as they are specifically included in the fine print of the offer).

I see on other threads that many members are sufferring the same. WTF?

The QFF app gives me a nice little nut to crack: should I take my assigned seat in Y or the one in J? Or can go hopping between seats as I like through the quick flight?
The Finnair website MMB shows only a single seat, the one initially selected, so somewhere the data got skewed and the QFF app has no error state for "two disjoint seats for a single person".

Its a comfort seat. You sit in 5F and extend your legs over 4F and feet rest in 3F.

Just as well it wasn't 3A and 5F, then.

Even worse, what if you're required to be in 3F and 5F..

"in other news, a plane turned back and police met the aircraft as an unruly passenger Mr Tdimdad refused to sit in his assigned seat(s)"

Apologies @juddles as a lowly platinum who also received this offer.

I too saw no difference in pricing - noting that E class fares are excluded (however you cant actually tell the fare class on the bookings page or the e-ticket!). In the end I booked red e-deal Y then upgraded into J (U) anyway without the discount, assuming lowest red e-deal was faring as E.

Note also when I went to book through qantas business rewards, the lowest tier of pricing dropped off (cheapest red e-deal was ~$150-175 more expensive). So I went back out and booked outside QBR.

I'm sure the fare conditions used to be linked in manage my booking. Now there is just a link to some advertising BS, finding actual conditions requires digging into the dark web.

Trying to log in ... it gives me this, with no option to go any further. Using Chrome on a PC.

I would have to consider that particular problem to rank right up there as the most frustrating. The point at which a gentle, mild mannered frequent flyer just wishes they had the IT expert responsible in the same room. Preferably with their testicl_s (or a suitably non-gender specific part) in a vice!
Most stuff you can work around, but the dead end options...! Arrgh!
