The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

I did and the etymology is interesting
This will be such a put down, and the recipient none the wiser. In fact, when I tell the know-all person he is an ultracrepidarian, he probably thinks it's a compliment! (I have someone in mind!)

For me it is a fellow in a red bandana if I ever run into him again.

You have someone - I have multiple people ;)

The ability to get a a fourth dose (even if paid not free) is going to need to be made available soon for those wanting to travel. Many overseas destinations are stating you can not enter unless you have had a vaccine within the previous 9 months (New Caledonia is one such destination).

Most people I know had their 3rd dose in November or December (earlier for those that are nurses and doctors), so if they want to travel anywhere from Sept onwards will be restricted unless they can buy a 4th dose.

Its clear new formulas wil not be availble when we get our April Flu Vax, so July would seem to make sense for allowing purchase of 4th dose along with any other travel vaccinations.

Of course the evidence for a 4th dose from Israel is that for most there is no statistically significant improvement in rates of infection or viral loads in HCW except for those over 60.

No evidence that a 4th dose is harmful, so id rather get one and be able to travel then be stuck in Australia indefinitely again. Ive already lost over 2 years of opportunity.

Actually not enough evidence to say it isn't harmful. that Israeli study only had 274 people getting the 4th dose.

Great news with second MRNA facility being built in Melbourne, with Moderna.

VIC was always going to get them.

And a few Australians offering some common sense advice so likely won't be taken. Not very complimentary re Moderna and Pfizer.
UNLESS Australia wants to keep pouring money into the pockets of Pfizer and Moderna for two COVID-19 vaccines that are becoming less and less effective, we must ramp up our own vaccine development and manufacturing, says a leading health economist.

Recent investigative reporting has given striking insights into the extraordinary levels of control Pfizer has successfully written into its contracts with a number of nations and the unprecedented market power and secrecy the firm now wields.20,21,22 These include controls over public announcements, prohibitions on nations redistributing supply between each other without Pfizer’s permission, transfer of legal risks from Pfizer to governments in the event of intellectual property infringements by Pfizer, and the use of private arbitration panels rather than public courts to settle disputes. Meanwhile, Moderna announced in November 2021 that European nations may now donate excess vaccines directly to COVAX, signalling that this was previously not permitted.23 Pfizer and Moderna, in particular, hold enormous power in the global market for COVID‐19 vaccines.
