Thank you for your loyalty

It remains inconceivable to me, that a company such as Qantas could make such a glaringly obvious error

I agree; but who says it was an error? I'm pretty sure they knew exactly what they were doing - "wow, here's a gift!!!" - knowing the cost/effect will be low as it is useless to many. Utterly cynical and two-faced.

This just in..... Qantas have finally relented regarding the worthless SC "loyalty" gift for those that have already achieved their current status renewal for next membership year....

For those whose membership ends last day of Sept, Oct or November - you can write to QFF after your year end to have your SC gift credited to your new member year. You must have achieved your current status (renewal) before the gift on 28 August. This restores some "value" in the otherwise worthless gift. .

It remains inconceivable to me, that a company such as Qantas could make such a glaringly obvious error AGAIN, and actively insult a significant number of their long suffering member customers with another schoolboy mistake. Along with having to reinstate lifetime credit to the bonus SC's received in thE recent double SC promo, there is obviously a massive competency vacuum in their QFF leadership.

The new Chairman must go, but only after the head of Loyalty and the CEO are sacked......
Acknowledging this will come across as a whinge but as someone who won't hit their retain target for WP - this still makes it a completely useless gift for me as I can't use it for earn or retain next year.

If they were genuine about this they would have either
  1. Given people a choice as to when it would credit, as per loyalty bonuses and green tier, or
  2. Automatically re applied them to the next year for members for whom it wasn't used in earning or retaining in the previous year (admittedly harder to do), or
  3. Automatically applied it as a head start on your next year from the start.
Appreciate that people will lose due to timing no matter the circumstances, but as someone who loses in this case (having lost on timing in the COVID extensions too) it is another extension of the "ungift".

In the interest of consistency and fairness, how about resetting to a standard QFF Membership Year for everyone - 1 July to 30 June.

With the QF scheme as it is that would be a negative to most members, as it would result in many members doing their 11th hour status runs at the same time and the airline knowing this (and pricing accordingly)

Do you have a source for this? Something official that can be referenced when making such a request?

For the record, needing to write to request this is just nonsense.

What a shambles.

This will be helpful for me if it's accurate.

Well... It seems it's time to fire off an email starting 'While I was pleased that Qantas has given me extra status credits, it's most unfortunate that they've come now as while I won't reach platinum this year, I was aspiring to reach platinum in my next membership year which starts on 1 November. Would it be possible to credit me with 80 status credits after 1 November'...

Hopefully AFF and other websites will write an article to help spread the word. Still no LT status unfortunatly.
Maybe Qantas are waiting for my annual renewal (May 2026) before posting my loyalty bonus. I really don't want to have to call them because all that will happen will be nothing.

Next up, perhaps they could re-allocate the PC bonus points to ‘on ground’ instead of ‘flying’. The latter meant it didn’t count for PC members who had flown enough to earn max 20k points in that category.

So what's the basis for the 90 days, I wonder? And why not generally announced? Complete BS.
When idiot companies/organisations/politicians get exposed, they just start making ship up as they go along. And secrecy/distraction/censorship/gaslighting are all standard tools used as well.... Qantas are masters at all of this.
