Thank You AFF and Moderators

The beauty of community - sharing knowledge so that people who wouldn't ordinarily think something is reachable, is attained through judicious use of points (ZASA, JASA and FASA), additional sectors, cheaper starting points (ex-TPE anyone?); et al.

Mods, you are awesome. I don't need to mention much more, but it is good to know you are handling things.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thank you so much for sharing information with beginners. I discovered this forum late last year when I applied for my first credit card. Since then I have added to this and we have gone from two commercial flights ever to
flying J on points with Qantas and Virgin twice each;
have booked a Citiselect price match to fly J to the US next year;
discovered that we don't need to purchase luggage allowance on internal AA flights as we have become OW Ruby through J travel via Citi Price Match (I know it's not exciting for most AFFers to reach silver but it is when you are just starting out);
purchased QC with bonus points and extended it's life in the 2-4-1 promotion;
and am just about to book our first JASA.
What an exciting eight months!
I have become addicted to collecting and using points. Thank you again to the Mods for organising the forum and to all those that contribute so that we can learn. Hopefully one day I will be able to return the favour.

My thanks too; since joining +1 & I have completed a RTW in J, made WP and retained it, discovered YASAs and JASAs, and much more. Best of all, I have been able to assist family and friends to do the same. My son now refers to me as "the Oracle".

Thanks again to all.

How did I miss this thread? Like many others my dabbling in point and programs and frequent flying has turned into a fulltime addiction.. oops I mean hobby :)
Seriously though I have benefited a lot from the wealth of knowledge on here and hopefully given a little back from time to time although I don't pretend to be an expert by any means like many others on here. I hope one day to meet some of you if/when I can find the time/be in the right place for a meetup/do.

Cheers

Timmi

Can I just add a quick and really great thanks to the Moderators and this site. I think the work that goes into it is beyond "the call" and I for one appreciate the entire site.
The diversity of opinion, the information provided is challenging and most ideas offer great food for thought.
However, I also see much UNFAIR criticism of the moderators that I find unfair and the constant need for moderators to "state their position" is just not right or fair. To me it give me information that I do not have the time to find and the inane jealousy from some members is just not called for.
The current ASA discussions are challenging. Recently on a flight (QF12) Mrs Swanhaven and I decided to blow all of our "points" for a holiday for the kids and grandkids to LA - I have 3 million points, she has 1 million points and together we have 1.9 million Hilton Points. Total of 12 adults and 14 grandchildren - all to be in business - change in ASA means that cash quota has gone up considerably - well so what - we got the points for nothing (we would have flown QANTAS and stayed HILON in the past even without points so any points are just a bonus. The only time I use points for is upgrades -SYD/LHR and return and SYD/LAX return - and they are really getting hard to get - so just get rid of the lot - if I am hit by a bus tomorrow their gone anyway.
Many thanks to the moderators and the site - I really enjoy it.
Just a quick note: How about a lot less whinging and complaining and lets be thankful of what we have in Australia and the diversity of choice - it really is outstanding - in fat I think the flying and destination choice is the best in the world. I fly ONEWORLD -but STAR ALLIANCE offers great airlines and terrific destinations. I was doubtful about the QANTAS/EMERITES tie but it seems to be working. On 2 flights to London and return in the last month 3 of the four flights were chockers and on the other 5 seats available "down the back". So something is working and the staff attitude is changing and to me really, really outstanding.
Will there be occasional problems? Of course their will be but live and travel in the US for 6 months and fly as much as you do in OZ and I doubt you will complains again.
Anyway MODERATORS, well done, have a great new financial year and more strength to your arm. (As an aside - I recently purchased 4 LUG-LOC's - they work!)

Well another financial year is almost done and we are in Sydney for the Hilton drinks and dinner tonight. You never know what you don't know if you don't go....or something like that. Thought about going to the AFL footy last night but the decision to not go was a winner due to the rain.
I have put the Any Seat phone number into my I phone so I feel ready for the new challenges with Qantas.
Yes I feel the AFF moderators do a great job so thanks again for your moderating.

The moderators are the unsung heros of this site, ensuring that comments are relevant and posted appropriately. The whole site has such a positive vibe.

I have enjoyed learning a little and thus being empowered sufficiently so that I was able to fly on the dreamliner in J - something I thought I would never be able to afford.

Congratulations to all the contributors who so willingly share their information to help us fly so economically and happily. JoyV

With 2013 rapidly drawing to an end It is time to thank our moderators for quietly running this site. Also a special thank you to the AFF members who researched travel ideas and helped us with getting out there.
We now have a Citibank Plus debit card as well as 28 Degrees.
Our family has many SQ redemption flights to both Los Angeles and London. SQ is one of the best for us.
I did two redemption flights with VA and have a good bank of points with them now.
I broke the pain barrier and started doing some mASA phone calls to Qantas once the bank of Internet flights were all used up.
The concept of points warehousing is great and we now have points stored with Amex, Citibank and Westpac to avoid points expiring.
This site has been really good for us to work our way through our travel bucket list.

May I echo the thoughts of cove as another year draws to a close.
The game keeps changing and we move on. This year has seen me embark with my family on a trip which builds on the three plus years of knowledge, tips, tricks, and great generosity of many AFF members who I have had the pleasure of meeting, wining and dining with this year ( I won't name you but you know who you are ;) )
It goes without saying that every little bit of time spent here has been repaid tenfold in the opportunities I have had.
Best Wishes for a very Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year to all the fantastic mod team, admin and most of all the community who contribute so much.

PS: This post is being brought to you at 36,000 FT via gogo on a KUPP for the family to EWR :D
