SYD-HKG discount economy return is 2600 x 2 points for a NB. As a WP you would get double that, so 10400 points total + 60 SCs. An economy return would earn 3900 x 2 = 7800 + status bonus of 7800 = 15600 points total + 80 SCs.

Routing via BNE would add 20 SCs and 800 x 2 points (no status bonus due to minimum points) if routed via BNE both directions.

And then double again.

And the double points for this promotion?

For the economy booking routing via BNE is going to add 40 SCs and 1000 x 2 x 2!

One trip will be SYD-HKG in economy. I have found an even better routing for my second trip.

I am now glad I found that 5c piece and 20c piece a couple of weeks ago. It is paying off dividends.

Just when I had decided to move all my earn to AA next year and book some upcoming international trips on CX, QF decides to throw a spanner in the works...

Double again for double points yes.

So with the double points:

SYD-HKG rtn discount economy: 20800 points
SYD-HKG rtn economy: 31200 points
SYD-BNE-HKG rtn discount economy: 24000 points
SYD-BNE-HKG rtn economy: 34400 points

It will be 20 SC's more over the SYD-HKG direct routing. 10 each way SYD-BNE/BNE-SYD. 40 SC's is only if it books into Y/B/H classes, which for an economy (not flexi) booking I would expect to end up in K/L/M/V/S. It'll also only be 800 points not 1000. Discount economy and economy earns the same points/SCs on all domestics.

Quite right. It is amazing what the eyes see that isn't there.

I will just settle for SYD-HKG return in economy and if I stop thinking about it and book it BNE-SYD-BKK-CNX return in discount economy.

Whoope?
That offer would have been (SWEET as) as our Kiwi cousins would say, if only some ?????? at QF hadn't thought up the enchancements, or enhancements.
So, MPG of 800 points, double that is 1600, or actual miles flown say MEL -> SYD 400 x 2 = 800?

That's interesting. SIN-MEL with a stop both ways would earn 27,200 points for $660 SGD. It can be argued that they're paying me to fly to the AFF gathering in Oct.

Why would I want to earn double QFF points when I can't spend the ones I have on what I want?

I am in a similar position but the lure of double points for flights I was already going to book is too tempting.

Three return flights costing ~AUD2,250 will earn ~80,000 QFF points. I could not possibly earn that much in any other program.

Definitely a win if you were already going to book flights :)

Qantas Take Off Sale - Double Qantas Points offer

You are probably right.

I was going to book using 2 old vouchers but I could just as easily purchase 2 x $50 vouchers now and book 2 returns for April and June.

There are some interesting possibilities with using an existing voucher. But on balance I don't think they could be achieved. As such new voucher is the best bet.

The problem for me is having enough vouchers to cover my remaining flights for 2014, but most of those flights falling in the promo period.

I can see AFFers still drooling over Everyday Rewards, Epiqure and Aquire so to me this is a no brainer.

I need to book 3 cheap flights which are going to cost $2,250.

Should I book on SQ and credit to Velocity? I don't think I can find the flights I want that cheaply.

Should I credit to AA and earn ~25,000 miles?

Or do I credit to QFF and earn ~80,000 QFF points? I think it is more but haven't done the detail calculations yet. At a minimum that is $540 on Woolworths gift cards for doing nothing other than booking flights I was going to book.

I got the email late last night (double points and 50% SC's) and registered. I still have $1,500 in QF vouchers bought in Dec, so I think they are ruled out (can't see anything in the T&C's). May need to buy some more for my regular flights in Q4 to SYD, MEL (may even throw in CBR and ADL). Will keep the existing vouchers for PER flights to make them a little more comfortable ;). This may be the best way for me to maintain SG by 28 Feb (and VA Plat).

Just a quick one on the sale.

I am looking at flying to the UK next year and wanting to go towards the pointy end so have been looking at various J flights with both oneworld and star alliance.

This sale has a return flight of $8k to london from Perth. (On emirates). Is this generally about as cheap as they get? )

I can fly with Qatar for about $6500 and I still think i get the points and status credits anyway. Not to mention i could fly my wife on Qatar return to LHR in J and it is about $400 cheaper in fees and taxes on Qatar than on Emirates/Qantas.

I'd consider holding off for a better QF fare if they do drop that region - but given this is a big sale and the fares are some $1500 more expensive... I don't think it is likely

Anyone else get a smoking J deal from perth to london/paris?
