Take away food from lounge

I agree with this line:

Taking a bag of chips, a banana or a can of soda back to your room is one thing but a full scale meal for two after you’ve already eaten goes above and beyond what a lounge has been designed for.

I draw the line at extra water for the flight to stay hydrated, if you want to load up at hotel lounges just fill your stomach rather than humiliating yourself :)

Or this from the comments below the story: "I once saw a guy fill up a sports drinks bottle with whisky from the BA lounge at Heathrow. When he saw me watch him he just said cheers, finished filling it to the brim and then wandered off!"

No.

I have a sandwich bag in my carry on. Sometimes I prepare a sandwich in the lounge, put in in the bag and bring it on-board when I'm short on time. I have no shame it seems...

Nooooo!! That is just so wrong! And here I complained about a little old lady yesterday, ripping pages out of a magazine in a waiting room (which I feel is very wrong, it is not her magazine and some people has no respect for other peoples property).

I agree with what TomVexille quoted a bag of chips or can of soda is one thing but stocking up is just so wrong!

On the other hand I have been prompted by some lounge staff to take with me a snack bag for our day out or when heading to the airport, but that is different. Then they supply us with a surprise bag, we dont come with empty containers and help ourselves.

Just... NO!

And what is wrong with that?* The quality of beverages in BA lounges is good.

*I doubt the BA liquor license allows for take away consumption.

That's just rude.

I'll take a bottle of water from the fridge or a piece of fruit to eat, but that's where I draw the line.

I don't see anything wrong with taking food from airline lounge.

In Thailand at breakfast I take a couple of boiled eggs and maybe bacon sandwich for lunch at golf.

Judge away. I actually don't lose any sleep over it and is so trivial is not worth debating.

I have a grandparent who takes a plastic bag to her favourite buffet. It is quite humouress watching her sneaking a few little lemon merengue tarts or desserts of her liking!

Might as well add to my post count as well as add to the debate :)

I really don't believe some of the stuff I see people take from hotel breakfasts when at WRC events. Granted we may be at a viewing spot where there isn't food available, but at all rallies I've been to in Europe, buying food and coffee (and beer) is never a problem, we'll also stop somewhere for lunch as well in between special stages.

I'll test this out again next month in the Welsh forests.

Or re-capped beers home from QF lounges? ;)

Agree i have taken water, fruit or packaged items out for activities later in the day but certainly never taken containers for meals later on.

I think it depends on your location too, and some lounges do encourage you to take stuff with you for morning tea (muffins and pastries etc), but never containers of food.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It's all abandoned as far as I'm concerned.

Interesting proposition legally. How would you frame the argument of 'abandonment' within he confines of an airline lounge? Would you say that the food is any more 'abandoned' than, say, the bottles of wine / spirits; the cutlery or even the computer monitors, for that matter?

On several occasions I've seen people with resealable sandwich bags loading up on liquorice allsorts/lollies and biscuits in the QC.
I admit taking teabags on a regular basis as I cant get green tea on-board in Y or if I think my hotel wont have it.

The odd banana from the hotel brekkie buffet after brekkie too. But never turned up with a Tupperware container.....
