Anyone have any experience with bringing a guest (travelling together in Y) in via the Premium Entry in Sydney as a VA gold?

The website says 'Sydney Lounge Premium Entry is available exclusively to Virgin Australia Business Class and Premium Economy guests, Velocity Platinum and Gold members and partner airline reciprocal status members travelling with carry-on baggage only.'

My reading of that is that entry to the lounge via that route is limited to the person holding status.

However it also says 'Standard Lounge Terms and Conditions apply'. Those conditions allow 'd) Each Member and Velocity Gold Member may invite one Guest, and two children aged 2 – 12 years inclusive to accompany the Member to the lounge at no charge.'

I would rather not have to do the walk of shame when my dear girlfriend is told that she can't come through with me and has to go the long way around! Perhaps the VA rep would like to shed some light on it for me.

Hi

I did this a couple of weeks ago - checked in at desk - no issues at all

Cheers

Avoid that walk of shame by sending your girlfriend through the "normal" channel, whilst you waltz through the premium entry. You can then have a refreshing beverage ready and waiting for her when she finally gets through and you collect her at the main lounge entrance. :p

(You'll be fine, I have taken guests through many times as a VA Plat. :))

I said to her "booked us SYD-HBA-SYD, one is business, one is economy".

She thought I was rocking it in J for both flights and she was in Y, rather than both being in Y on the way there and both in J on the way back.

Never seen anyone look so crestfallen before!

My mum was going to try it with carry-on baggage only in September using two single entry passes on her velocity silver. (and that flight will then flick her over to SG)

Easter this year I was at 490SC, and had a few passes to use up (although was on a non earning AMEX free flight). Premium entry dragon said no, and told me to go the long way around. After a long haul trip via normal security, I asked at the normal lounge entry and she confirmed that lounge passes won't let you use that entry.

Having said that, the same premium entry has previously upgraded me on points to J when I was only Silver - so depends who your mum gets on the day! Hopefully she gets a friendly dragon...
