Are you new to the Northern Beaches? ;)
Anything non-work off the peninsula is considered a grand adventure

When people ask how often I cross the bridge I feel like I usually have a fairly respectable answer. I just neglect to mention it’s almost always only because I’m going to the airport. 🤣

I have booked a hotel. What is going on in SYD that day* - prices are a bit scary?

*Apart from an AFF gathering, of course!

Yeah I would think it's a combination of...

Lunar New Year - not just locals, there's also an 8 day stretch of weekend/public holiday in China including this weekend, likely a lot of inbound travellers
Mardi Gras - the parade is the following weekend, but the festival starts 13 Feb and there's always a gradual build up of tourism for that

Not waiting for Happy Hour this week?
'Twas unimpressive anyway. Out of SYD at least, Happy Hour offers for MEL, BNE, and HBA that I looked at were all for a limited period in May-June 2026. Narrowest set of dates I've seen as part of a HH in a while.

I'll be gold for now.

If i don't need to bounce around Japan / HKG the weeks before this I should be able to come, but atm I'm not sure on that just yet.

Sorry guys, I will have to drop to a definite bronze. Just a tad too close to CNY and it’s unlikely I’ll be flying back to Sydney any earlier than the Saturday night.

Thanks for organizing @DejaBrew and hope to catch you all at another event!

Note that the 21st Clashes with the annual FlyerTalk Qantas "AGM" frequent flyer event. So I'm Bronze for this dinner.

Finally getting around to planning the AGM for next year - thanks to @nlagalle.

Where: BNE QC in a roped off area, in the QC - awaiting advice from RGM whether it will be in the same position as usual).
When: 3pm Saturday, 21st February 2026
What: We sit around and talk everything related to travel programs, tricks and traps.

RSVP: to this thread, I'll keep a running list of attendees (Platinum - Yes I'm a definite; Gold - I'd like to come, let me organise myself; Silver - I'm a possible/maybe; Bronze - Sorry, I'm a scratching; Copper - reserved for @penegal). Also put your QFF status if it's not already shown.

Now in order to correctly constitute a meeting notice, here are the minutes of the last meeting:
22nd Annual AGM: BNE Sat 22 Feb 2025

We had a quorum and there was a speech and questions, plus a resolution actually put to the meeting (next AGM), voted on and carried unanimously.

I’ll put your status next to your name and for all attendees, I’ll get your name and QFF number from you via PM about a week prior (unless I already hold them), as we need to supply the QF RGM with the information. At a later stage, I'll get FF numbers from those attendees from whom I haven't obtained it previously.
