I am with JohnPhelan in the pleasure that this new hotel will be a Four Points rather than an Aloft.
Starwood have commented in the Australian that the developers wanted a well recognised international brand that would help position Central Park.
I would think that Four Points by Sheraton would fulfill this brand recognition better in Australia than Aloft. And incidentally the brief by the developers, which I believe is aiming at a 4.5 star hotel. After all when you get international architects of the calibre of Foster Partners, would you make your hotel an Aloft?
Googling up "tacky Aloft" leads you to an number of posts online. Admittedly there are also posts by people that like Aloft.
One poster said of the Aloft Boston, "Imagine being trapped in a tacky IKEA".
The response from hotel management more or less confirmed this tackiness!
Management said the hotel was designed with "ultra edgy decor in an European layout with vivacious colours".
One look at the room photos would put you off the vivacious colours! And a wardrobe with a curtain on a rod closing it off from the room?
Each to their own.
