i've had the same issues
I dont have a view or anything but have had work things etc at home in a not unreasonable entertaining area
The senior staff generally provide all the food etc but after a few times there did seem to be a sense of entitlement

It only takes one!

C

(wasn't really serious about the roof comment btw . i'll be at work)

Hang on
poker tournament on a roof with a view??????? :D

and i'll second the OOL efforts
Its just i'm overseas somewhere!

If someone would spring for outdoor speakers and outdoor screen we have a spare projector - outdoor, movie, poker and drinks lol

there is now only 4 apartments that have lived here longer than me so that means everyone who has moved in since was initially daft enough to think it was strata provided, and someone tried to steal my bar table and stools about a week after it arrived. They got the stools, glass top and got stuck when the table itself didn't fit through the door. I couldn't believe it!. I will be moving it all as soon as I have some other place to put it. They ended up returning it, but thats not really the point I guess. Who steals from flatmates or strata??!! and the fact it was returned just proves it was someone here and not a random off the street.

I'ma check my budget to see if there is a way to go to one of the OOL days.

mine will be a standing offer
I thought everyone that was going to OOL had to sign up already?
I would have got some flights to OOL if I had of known.. now it might be too expensive considering we are already going away the next Wed.

There's still time if you can find flights/accommodation ;)

Need to sign up by about a week before, but the BBQ is open to the day, so long as no more than ~10 people arrive on the day without letting me know ;)

As an aside Sam, I doubt there is a hidden agenda to downplay the OOL event at all. There are probably people out there who are over the Gold Coast (like me for example - been there one too many times), or those who just couldn't make it up there that weekend... doesn't necessarily mean there is a plot to downplay your hard work. The OOL event sounds fantastic with great guests. I'm sure it will be awesome.

I wasn't attacking you, or anyone else thinking of coming to your event, save for one that does seem to have a thing against my organisation of OOL, when I wanted HBA anyway :p

I'm really over the GC... just wish I could leave ;)

Your time will come when you can finally escape :p

I used to live in BNE for a few years so was down the coast on a regular basis - got over it. The place is also overrun by the bogan elite too lol

Hey! Not all Gold Coast residents & visitors subscribe to the bogan stereotype that you speak of..
There are also areas of Sydney & Brisbane & all major cities that are IMO 'off limits"
The weather is absolutely gorgeous on GC today... Been for a swim this morning & a jetski is on the cards for this afternoon, basking in the sunshine @ 25 degrees :D

But the weather everywhere today is pretty much absolutely gorgeous. In SE Victoria it is 27-28 deg.

unbelievable behavior...
but unfortunately happens all too often.

I'm in the process of making mini melting moments - just the shortbread part. Anyone know if they freeze well. I don't know when I will need them.

If I could get to SYD tomorrow, I'd come and eat them! Alas I can't. I'll be down in December 2013! :p

Dec 2013?? not this year?
I am not so sure they will keep that long, frozen, airtight container, remade or not. I am usually lucky if I can fill them as they go quickly. So I make them smaller, not more. :)

You can freeze the raw pastry shellthom. Roll/mold it into a cylinder shape and wrap it up a few times with glad-wrap.

Has a date been set for this event? I might/should be able to make it.

I haven't really followed this thread very closely. But what's with all this off topic stuff. Seriously why?

Back to the topic at hand. What about something on 17 October around Darling Harbour area?

Works for me.

I'll be coming from Macquarie Park, so anywhere from 6pm should work for me.

I got my parents visiting, so we probably wont be able to make that. Could do the next week but nothing in November, but December is wide open (except the first few days).
I'm only new tho, so I've never been to one before, so I wont be missed. I would like to meet some people for real though.

Week night and I might be able to be there.

I have to go to Sydney a few times in the next couple of weeks.

Given there seems to be some numbers around Wed 17th - lets lock that in...(apologies to shellthom)

Rather than the usual Darling Harbour can I make an alternate suggestion that is still closeish.
The brand new Glenmore Rooftop Hotel in the Rocks which just reopened last Friday after a renovation - the rooftop no longer has fake green grass carpet and has a weather protected sail. This bar has one of the best views in Sydney
The Glenmore

Dinner could be had there or across the road for pizzas at The Australian.

Works for me

Looking forward to a catch up

I can do Oct 17 if its early evening, and second the Glenmore as a great venue.
