Hi all,

next week i have a trip NTL-SYD-CFS, with one leg on Aeropelican and the other on QFLink.

I know both flights are in/out of T2, but does anyone know if you can transfer directly within the terminal, or do you have to go out through security to baggage claim and then back in upstairs? I wont be checking any baggage, and can do the online checkin for the QF flight.

Thanks for any advice
cheers

IIRC, the aeroduck bus drops you off airside on the ground level; you can't then stay airside by going up the escalator/stair. You need to go out through security doors to landside, down to the right and back up through security.

I think that after the aeroduck bus drops you at the ground level you turn left (right will take you to the baggage carousels) and you have to go through security there before you can go airside again. This is a bit of an anomaly because at some regional airports such as NTL, BNK and CFS (I am pretty certain) you have already been through security before boarding but not all regionals have security so they make sure you are "clean"

Trying to picture it; yes you are correct. There's a lobby there, but arriving PAX are blocked off and have to go outside.

Thanks for the responses guys. Good to have an idea about what to expect. Sounds like it shouldnt be a problem, probably just follow the rest of the people, as i imagine not too many people would just fly NTL->SYD and stop there (only a 2 hr drive).

I would still rather fly, even if it is only a short trip. The SYD - NTL flight is magnificent on a clear day. The views are really spectacular. I hope that you enjoy the NTL - SYD leg.

Yes, its a great view.

One of my favourite flights was when they operated the 717 on the route. I will be sure to take my earplugs as I'm on a Brindabella Metro on the way back!

Thats taking the long way.

After getting the bus from Aeropelican it then drops you just outside of the baggage claim area, so you then need to walk upstairs and go through security.

As you don't have any baggage remember that there isn't much space for carry on, and I had a small bag(5kg) and a laptop and the small bag was gate checked or planed checked, I got it back straight after getting off the aircraft.

Check in will probably open about 40 minutes before the flight and you probably won't board until about 5 minutes before the actual flight time. Completely different to a full size airline.

I feel old (and OT.. Sorry!;) ).... when someone mentions Aeropelican I STILL think of the Twin Otters.....

Never flew scheduled with them, but did a LOT of jumps out of those fine turboprops when they were chartered out.... no seats then of course!

The Aeropelican pilots were excellent.....

Its not that long since the AeroDuck twotter ceased services to SYD

"Aeroduck" I like that!!:D

We used to enjoy having their guy "Stewie" flying the Skydiving charters... he used to ...ummm.... how should I phrase it..... "demonstrate the full capabilities of the aircraft"

I stayed aboard for one descent after jump run.... THAT was interesting... I believe he used propeller pitch to prevent going too fast in the dive (does that sound right?).. angle of descent was certainly interesting! The initial wing over was even more so!

Now... remembering that a jumper takes 12 seconds to fall the first 1000ft.. then around 6 seconds per 1000 after that..... it was kinda neat that Stewie would be LANDING before some of the skydivers...

I hope that is not completely accurate information

I hope that at least the last 1000 feet will take longer than 6 seconds ;) .

Well... that depends entirely on YOU!!!

"If you don't pull THAT one, AND you don't pull THAT one...... you gonna die."

Good point... from 12 grand down to 2 apply the previous calculation... then add about a minute or so per 1000 after that.....

Still... a pretty decent descent rate.... factoring in pullout/positioning/approach etc for the a/c...
