My other pet hate is the people seated in rows behind you that push past while you are trying to retrieve your laptop bag on disembarking

Apart from inconsiderate recliners, my favourite would have to be the "lets block the aisle for 5 mins" person when disembarking .....
In the meantime ..... the 100 or so pax behind are almost to the point of violence.

Yeah, people blocking the ailse would have to be my all time top hate. Since I'm generally flying PER to the east coast or back I've usually been cooped up for a few hours by that point, I want to get off, breathe fresh air, stretch my legs and go to the damn toilet. GET OUT OF MY WAY!

My pet hates:

1) The recliner. As a fairly tall bloke I am often bombarded by the seat in front of me, unless I happen to be in the front row. I dont mind if I get a bit of warning so I can at least get my legs out of the way.

2) The recliner (2). Someone who does not give me warning and then seems to take breaking my knees as a challenge when the seat in front will not recline flat.

3) Too much carry on. Has anyone ever flown CO from MNL to GUM or vice versa. If you have, you will know what I mean.

4) Too much carry on (2). As I am also fairly broad (not fat ) I am forever getting whacked, bruised and assulted when PAX comes rolling down the aisles with 3 cabin bags plus duty free all loaded on the same shoulder heading my way.

Kids kicking seats dont rate to well either, my kids dont do it, so I dont see why we should have to from others.

Know that one well ... people turn around with verticle center of gravity somewhere near the spine; the Backpack protrudes and swings inn a arc thereby becoming a weapon of some clout ... literally.

• (MP3) users who use cheap earphones that spill out so much sound…
• People who laugh out loud when listening to something in the headphones…
• People mixing coke with their scotch…
• People who travel with their entire duty-free allowance of perfume or cologne worn on their body…

Oh dear, I appear to be on the hit list!

Either of these are, in my opinion, legitimate grounds for the Air Marshalls to take control of the cabin.

On reclining.... I had an interesting one today. 2 x people in front of me decided to recline fully immediately after the FA sat down in preparation for take off, and left it reclined during take off. Now I wonder how common that is ? Felt like reporting them but didn't....

With regards to the seat reclining, I actually don't usually recline, even when sleeping (thank goodness - lots of sleeping on the bus helped train me). But since I am of a large size, I tend to "recline" the seat without even realising and without pressing the recline button. (In fact, if you are strong enough, you could just plant your feet and push the seat back. Kinda pointless having the button!) I'm not sure about other aircraft, but I can definitely do it on all 737s and 767s. Real wierd.

But here's a list of annoying habits:
1) Reclining inappropriately (wrong time, too much, with intention to annoy)
2) Kicking my seat (even after I say "please stop")
3) Parents that can't control their kids (excluding babies, where it's then "Parents that don't try at all to control their kids"). I don't get bothered by babies that cry loudly, since unlike kids you can't yell "Shut Up!" at them and it will work - besides, we were all crying babies once.
4) People with MP3 Players that have their headphone volume set so high they virtually resemble a walking boombox with a face. (I don't mind people who slightly go over so you can hear a tiny bit, but then you have those that insist on blaring through their ears).
5) People who never ever talk acting as if (a) they are the only sane person on the flight, and/or (b) they are the only person who seemed to be able to easy afford the airfare to get on this flight.
6) People who talk obnoxiously loud (and laugh equally loud and obnoxiously)
7) People who are rude or show contempt to the FAs (as long as the FAs are nice, though).
8) Eating habits. I'm not expecting pish-posh uptight behaviour, but I've seen some very appalling standards. Eating with your mouth closed (or at least silently) is a good start... (I say silently because my sister had trouble eating with her mouth closed as she was asthmatic.)

i was on a DJ flight from Mackay to BNE once where the seat was broken and would recline over a couple of mins just be sitting in it normally. i was embarassed and explained my dilemma to the person behind and just kept putting it forward. in the end i rested my head on the tray table ...

it was a full flight too, no spare seats. it was a challenge to keep it upright fully during take off

What gets me is the people behind who use your seat as an anchor to lift themselves up or lower back down again. Or those who can't turn sideways to get out of the seat, giving yours a push as they move to the aisle. Nothing like being woken up everytime someone beside AND behind needs to move!

I hate seats like that. Unfortunately there is one in particular I get quite often on jetconnect (since I normally get the same seat number and fairly often it is this particular a/c). Annoying.

Had a seat like that in 1976 on a DC8 flown by UTA. The FA (as they were not then known) kept telling me to put my seat up and when I complained that it was broken she just ignored me. Plenty of room in the aircraft but no offer to move me. I found the French creww very rude.

OTOH, when I had a broken seat on a 100% full flight, I was offered accommodation overnight in a nice hotel and to fly out the next day upgraded to Business.. you can tell which option I chose

Surprised more people seated on the aisle do not raise the aisle armrest to leave/resume their seat (I don't know on how many seats/aircraft this is possible but certainly in Y on planes I've been on, and Y is where the problem would be felt most). So much easier!

Yes - people who are oblivious to the buffeting they cause when entering and exiting their seat are extremely annoying. Be assured that when I put my full weight on the back of the seat in front and then let it go like a trebuchet .... I fully intend to annoy the imbecile who abruptly lowered their seat into my paper/PC/lap. The only exception is for passengers who have actually reclined the seat to get some sleep (yes - they do exist), but it is only really possible to exit smoothly if you are in the aisle seat. I have tried a few different techniques when I have been stuck in a window seat (or, God forbid, in the middle seat), but all that happens is that I resemble a clumsy limbo dancer and usually end up sitting on someone's headphones.

Did I mention that recliners should be hung, drawn and quartered? Oh - thought as much.

If I remember correctly the aisle seat armrest does not lift on any of the QF aircraft flying long haul international.

Yep, no 744, 76x, 73x or A330 i have been on has that option, and i have forward isle preference, would be nice though.

Actually my baguette was being used as a shim to try to stop the seat reclining so all I had was my poor grade 10 french.

This was a timely reminder about the French as I am planning a trip to Europe next year and an option was to use Air France on a leg of the trip. Scratch that idea!!!!!!
