It isn't Krug city back here in Perth but a dozen Veuve in two boxes are heading our way from Cellarmasters.
If I was on a plane with an engine going u/s on take off I would certainly be thinking Krug CE.
Now give Mrs CE a lecture on why fly direct when we can connect (after the third glass of Krug of course).
Have never ventured out of the lounge in Narita.....is it steamy in September on the outside ?

Thanks Alanslegal - great trip report! And congrats :)
So it looks pretty clear that SQ wins over EK. But... is there a better use for a stash of QF points than EK F to Europe (or New York)? I guess I'm now trying to work out whether those QF points are better used elsewhere or whether this might be practically as good as it gets. The high taxes tick me off though. Perhaps JAL or CX??

Either way, after reading your TR I'll be looking to use those Virgin points on SQ R I reckon - just a question of when!

Did you get the Super deal?

I paid $260 a case, then got some cashback

SQ12 which dep 18:15 yesterday and ret to NRT is now rescheduled as SQ9012 due for dep today at 16:15 with arrival into LaaX due 10:25 today.

We were transferred to Hilton Narita last night and all is good for us. Most hotels full last night so SQ had a terrible problem trying to accommodate pax - I feel so sad for the elderly Y pax and for the mothers with babies and young children - would have been so difficult for so many.

Must be a tiny breed of cattle these Japanese - check the size of the slippers in the Hilton Narita room compared to slipper size as supplied in SQ F:

Yes penegal one dozen in process with the usual kickers.
It isn't Krug but I am on the free list about 14 times a year seeing we stop in Narita and recharge our glasses.Unfortunately the LHR run goes direct from Singapore and I have had to struggle (without assistance )with a whole bottle.....a First World problem for sure as you get the icy vodka and the French red with the meals.
unnamed put me onto the Veuve deal and I added the kickers.

Groundhog Day! Back in ANA F waiting to board:

hey guys,
i'm looking to book some a R return trip for 2 late next year SYD - NYC and back from LA (or vice versa) , window hasn't open yet but i'm planning ahead :)

i've been looking at the SQ website recently and even at the start of the booking window almost all dates are gone for 2 pax in suites saver on outbound legs, with intermittent availability on the return

encouragingly, there are flights available if booking on the day inventory gets loaded. my thought is that i should probably book my outbound then? and will have to book the return leg on a separate ticket? we'll be going for about a month so i can't see any way there'll still be saver flights for the outbound if i wait to book both together.

am i thinking along the right lines here in booking 2 separate tickets vs trying to get a single return ticket?

also - any thoughts on whether we should go Syd-LAX first or Syd-JFK?? in terms of getting in at opportune times to enjoy lounges along the way etc.

Thanks guys!!

no penalty for booking one ways - and easier if you decide you need to move dates. i.e. book as soon as you can. the JFK route is one of the most popular given the c/c churning americans are able to do.

re which city - personal preference in the end i guess. east coast goes via asia (NRT, ICN, HKG) whereas JFK goes through FRA. also be interested to hear if jetlag is particularly noticeable in one direction?

Now you've got me interested in a SQ R RTW trip for my honeymoon.

Mind you I'm from MEL, so I would fly to SYD just to fly suites since we lost the a380, but would have to explain to the missus on why we would be going to SYD.

Would like to stop over in Korea but just had a look at the website and they only fly the 777 out of ICN. Unless I go SYD-NRT-ICN-NRT-LAX and buy the return flight to ICN from NRT. Then on the way home JFK-FRA-some other europe city-FRA-SIN-SYD. Could make a mini europe trip out of it too.

This looks like the start of my next holiday planning. If only I could take a month off to fully enjoy it :(

Good plan ninja-tim and do you need to keep it so your fiancée does not know the plan? If that is the case you would book it all on your Kris Miles account so all the communication goes to you. All you will need is her passport and you will need an ESTA for the USA.

Yeah I probably will try to surprise her with the destinations. Surprised her last time with Suites, she didn't know till we got on board.

Told her she should pack two sets of clothes, one for a summer vacation and one for a winter vacation and I'll pack one or both of them into her luggage and see if I can surprise her once we get to the airport. I wonder if she can avoid hearing/seeing the destination until we get there. Might be a challenge. She just got an ESTA for a hawaii trip last month. How long are they good for?

Might have to try and make use of these stop overs more often.

ESTAs are generally for 2 years but less if the passport expiry intervenes to shorten it.
We are impressed that you have taken her on Suites already.

Yeah took her last year to Paris and got engaged over there.
Well thanks to everyone here and all the advice, it made getting suites on points so much easier & faster to earn and book.

And no thanks because now that we both had a taste for suites, flying in Y will never be the same :(

Just as an FYI
Our waitlisted flights out of LHR to SYD for travel next April, just cleared on Friday:) (F to SIN and then R to SYD)
