Strategy to obtain US Amex

Interesting recent article.

How are people doing for paypal? You can't now add foreign billing addresses outside the region of your account and PayPal says you can only have 1 personal and 1 business account. Are people running US sole prop paypal business accounts?

Makes the Citi Strata Premier sound amazing ! Are they really more fraud trigger-happy than Chase/C1 ?
From all reports here, yes they are

My current HSBC Premier + Amex Gold combo nearly rivals what Citi Strata Premier gets.

I get 4x dining (on Gold) and 3x on flights (on Gold) and 3x gas/groceries (on HSBC).

Only thing better on the Citi Strata Premier is 3x on hotels (HSBC is 2x).

First reinstatement attempt not successful yesterday even though all accounts fully paid
Asked the reason I have short credit history and so many enquires.
Have to wait 30 days before I try again .

I mean that's what Frank said as well so you should just wait 30 days instead of calling.

Many enquiries from credit providers? Too many card applications? Is that the issue?
Yep. They're deeming it as credit seeking behaviour. Bust out risk is high. Esp if they do a soft pull and see you have outstanding balances on multiple across cards from different credit providers.

Since 2019
As I said I have been through this. Your points were already gone despite showing in the system . I have been through this twice. This is the process:
- all card are closed. Points still show but you can't use them
- you can call and they might be able to get account reactivated, if. Ot can only try again in 30 days as they want to see the refresh of your credit score
- during this time, you need to pay off all balance and not apply for any credit at all, make sure all personal balances are low to report good utilisation
- call after 30 days to get accounts reinstated. They will ask heaps of questions so be prepared to answer (why heaps of purchases overseas, what exact business to do you, why applying for so much credit, etc)
- if they reinstate the card, then all the points will come back

If this happens to you or anyone else where chase closes the card down, try and withdraw all points right away (might already be locked)

Don’t have any balance at all apart from an Amex biz which won’t be visible .

Ok . Thanks .
Do you know if the united points still showing as pending will get transferred across when next statement closes ?
