Strategy to obtain US Amex

Most of the answers to your questions have already been addressed once or twice or more in this thread. You’ll find a lot that will help you on this process if you look through for any posts relating to HSBC.
Yeah I've been searching via google since the search function is hard to use here.. I cant scroll through the 13k posts though - I'll go crazy

Nah I just assumed that using a myUS account flagged the address. Here is what I got

Unfortunately, we are unable to open accounts for you at this time. This may be a result of:
  • Our inability to verify certain information that is required under the Patriot Act
  • Data made available to us through public or private sources, which in this case does not include data obtained from any consumer credit reporting agency.
  • Certain transaction(s) or attempted transaction(s) with us or an affiliate.

I also got that despite not using a CMRA address and using a US residential IP proxy.

Based on the experiences I’ve seen others report, being in the US makes a huge difference.

Yeah that's the default error. It seems like they've implemented something that is beyond just IP checks. I wonder if they're using system clocks to determine location? Any ideas what else it could be?

I had also changed my system clock to be in the same timezone as the residential IP I was using.

If you want to sign up and get a single US Amex through GT and do nothing further, you probably won’t need to.

But if you ever want to get a second (or more) Amex(es), get cards with other US banks, get a checking account outside of HSBC (which will be necessary if HSBC sells their Australia business as speculated), navigate your way through an Amex financial review process (which seems to be happening more and more, even to people who only have a single Amex), understand how to get your credit score etc etc, reading through this entire thread will be the best possible thing you can do.

I only have 2 US credit cards and 4 US bank accounts and have only started my journey recently. I read through this entire thread before I started and have found that even in my journey to date, you can never have enough information. I spend a lot of time trawling reddit and other forums seeking out information that will help me get the next card (and keep the cards I have - which is actually half of the battle!)

I need some guidance please. I applied for GT this week and they are requesting for proof of address.
Ive set up HSBC AU premier last week and they've created a global transaction account. I'm trying to setup a US checking account now but its asking for the below which means im back to square one.
I think you've applied for GT too early - if you look at my run through up thread I had the same issue (at the time it wasn't as clear that they wouldn't accept Wise statements, we know know they definitely won't). You need a statement for your US checking account with your US address on it, so it'll take a month from when you open the HSBC US Premier checking account, then you'll have the evidence for GT. IIRC they give you 60 (maybe 90?) days to provide it, if not you need to let that GT application lapse and do a new one.
