Status Run Spreadsheet access pre-requisites

As I mentioned in the Status Run thread:

I always figured, if VA wanted to know where the "good" status runs were, they didn't need our spreadsheet... they could just get one of their IT staff to query their own database!

If VA were serious about identifying and shutting down the "unprofitable" flights, they don't need a spreadsheet. They need an IT graduate (or high-priced business analytics consultant...) with an hour's spare time. They can query their own flight database, look at every possible routing, calculate all the statistics, price, $/SC, etc. Much more comprehensive, accurate, and no need to try and get access to the AFF spreadsheet.

Sorry to be a bad boy in asking, but would or could there be a qantas version / partner airlines (one world) that could be made/used/viewed?

Willing to talk privately if anyone is interested....

There is already a public list that has been there for some time in the QFF area, QF do not seem concerned about pulling good value runs with the exception of the NAN run that lasted a good while.

Its a private members spreadsheet who grants access as they see fit isnt it? He has the right to deny or grant access to whoever he wants. Life isnt fair get over it move on perhaps even build your own spreadsheets and invite who you like !

You're spot on, there, TSOOBI.

Also, it seems that some are pointing the finger at lobo76 about granting access. It was lobo76 who set up the spreadsheet in the first place and he has asked numerous times for ideas regarding access options.

Yes, the NAN run. Gone. :(

Cest la vie, maybe it's working because the bull in the china shop syndrome is not evident, a la coupon connection, it's a pity there is a need for such methods given the latitude displayed on the original DJ points plus pay bargains previously. With the current shift towards reduced engagement in social media and the swift action to cutoff value, the only winners from the great VA status match campaign to any extent would appear to be Hilton, going by samples on this board.

Interesting that there are two VA staffers reading this thread as I post, but not surprising ;).

I agree it's a shame. But, much like AA, i'd say most of the fares loaded into the GDS that are 'stellar' for our purposes, are very much so not a mistake.

AA load the amazing fares they do to get butts-in-seats. The majority of people taking these flights, are not status runners like us, so when the fares are exploited, the airlines decide they don't like that anymore. It's really a cat and mouse game. The best of the AA runs these days are not easy to find, and are a little bit like the Freemasons; steeped in secrecy and codes (look at some of the FT and MP threads these days; they talk in codes to make them non-indexable by google and make them obscure enough so airlines don't pay much attention as it's simply too much effort for them).

Re "The Great Status Match", I'd *love* to know the conversion from comped to retained. Of course, we'll never find out that's heavily commercially sensitive, but based on the number of people in the VA lounges, i'd say it's quite decent. Of course, as the initial comped plats (who have dropped to gold), drop to silver this year, that may ease up, but it's definitely standing room only in MEL during peak hour. Before the match, it definitely wasn't. Hilton would have done quite nicely out of this match, and unfortunately i'm about to lose my HH Diamond (as i'm now Hyatt Diamond, earned the hard way). Hyatt won me from Hilton after the OneWorld MegaDo :)

But we're getting waaaay O/T here.

I know for a *fact* VA staff have seen it. Clearly, they are different staff to others that may make the decision to close a loophole, but they have seen it.

Meep! Here's hoping Borghetti doesn't come and cut up my Velocity card! :p

I think that is a great idea. Quick and quiet and nobody will care.
