Status credits when paying with gift cards?

Hey guys,

Got gifted a $100 coles gift card.
If I spend it at Coles on eligible items and swipe my flybuys card, will I earn 1 Virgin Australia status credit?

The T&C on the flybuys website are not clear in this regard.

I would guess how you pay for groceries should not matter although gift card not quite the same as cash or credit card.

I was thinking that but just wondering if anyone has any experience?
It does say to treat it like cash on the gift card packet.
