I've been through quite a few airports and train stations in the post covid era and KUL was by far the dirtiest and most disgusting airport I've visited. Including the MH lounge. In fact the seats in MH J were also filthy. Sometimes they're the only option for a redemption but I won't be going back unless totally and absolutely necessary...

The MH J lounge was large but very poor. The showers were mouldy and leaky plumbing. Attendant dozing at his station.

The Plaza Premium was much much nicer.

I didn't dare go for the showers. The meal areas and tables were absolutely filthy.

Sorry did not mean to hijack thread with this.

Hmm. I went through back in June and the Golden Lounge Satellite (Business) was reasonably clean. I also went through briefly in late August and visited the Platinum side, which also seemed fine (the food at the al a carte dining was quite poor though). The lounge was absolutely not busy at all both times though. Perhaps it's degraded quite a bit in the last few months.

who has access to the Platinum side?

I‘ve only ever passed through the satellite terminal. The “First” (Platinum) lounge used to be quite reasonable, albeit smallish.

I was in the J lounge in November, and it didn't seem too bad to me.
Tables had untold amounts of filth in gaps between glass & frame of table

No hand sanitiser I could find in the lounge

Plates and cutlery ran out on a very regular basis - as did food items at the buffet and some (e..g fruit) not regularly restocked. Fresh fruit was OK but the other items I thought pretty average.

Hardly any self service drinks. No self service alcohol is fine but no water taps or anything, just a constantly empty jug.

Toilets were disgusting and can also say the shower/toilet attendant was basically asleep at their station per @p--and--t report

Barista coffee was surprisingly decent.

However that's before we even talk about the state of the business cabin in both A350 & A330. Yikes. Across three aircraft all three of my seats were in quite a state. And best I not mention the chaos of aircraft going U/S after boarding and resulting madness.

I think my most favourite bit was after I had taken my water bottle from my Business seat on the first aircraft, on boarding the replacement an F/A came up to me pointing to the water bottle in the seat and told me "I replaced your water bottle for you, as you took the one from the other aircraft."

Gee, thanks.

But I got home safely so I am thankful for that even if four hours late. Regret changing from JL Business Class NRT-MEL, but it was the only way to get to Perth.

About sums up my experience at the airport and onboard as well.

The "savoury" dishes I did try in the lounge were super sweet, sugar added to everything.

MH sent me a survey after the trip and I sent commentary and photos and got no response.

Onboard service was so haphazard and disjointed. The "hot" food was cold. The crew seemed nervous and anxious as if it was their first flight.

That hasn’t been my experience at all on my visits. My most recent visit the Plaza Premium First lounge was dirty and overall a pretty poor lounge for EY to use but the MH Golden First lounge was immaculate and service was attentive and good offerings. Been many years since arriving or departing from KLIA2 so I can’t comment on that but we stayed the night at the Aerotel as we arrived late and my parents flew out early. The Aerotel was clean and tidy and the lanside shopping and food precinct at KLIA2 was also well looked after and quite impressive.

There are 2 sides to the MH lounge at the satellite I believe, I was on the J side in November. Seating comfortable and not too crowed, but otherwise - Yuk.

Yes, the Golden Lounge has the J lounge to the left on entry and the F lounge (which they also call “Platinum Lounge” on the right.
There was a lineup for the J lounge and it sounded very noisy with kids playing up.
The F lounge was almost deserted and was tranquil as well as being spotless.

I think they only call it the platinum lounge these days. I don't think MH offers anything called First Class any more.

Wasn’t the lounge within the lounge “Platinum” at one point before rebranding the whole thing?

MH have something called “Business Suites” now which is higher than their J class and allows you entry to the Platinum Lounge.
The lounge staff on entry referred to it as the First Class lounge still but the staff inside were calling it the Platinum lounge

Not one of the international lounges but I was in the MH Domestic Golden Lounge at KUL last week and found it nice and clean, with tasty food options on the buffet (nasi lemak was delicious) - better food options than what you'd find in the QF SYD Dom J lounge. Lounge attendants were prompt at taking away dirty plates etc.

The QF INT lounge is dire... the options are better in the domestic lounges which says something.

Staying OT, those in the know go to the EK lounge when eligible (flying QF or EK and QF SG or J BP).
