I just read an article stating that Avalon airport's boss was wanting Qantas to start flights from Avalon to New Zealand. Does anyone think this will happen? I always thought JQ would be the only airline to operate out of Avalon.

If QF were going to operate anywhere would have thought a QFLink service connecting Geelong to SYD would be more likely.

Avalon has been wanting things for a while, a bit like some regional airports with international ambitions that never eventuate.

Avalon was wanting flights to China, Japan, Vietnam also. Nothing ever happened. The best they will ever get is Bali with Jetstar, perhaps NZ with Jetstar also. Do remind yourself that taxpayers are underwriting these international flights.

Tullamarine are pretty competitive when it comes to deals, they got AirAsia back and Avalon never secured Cebu or Vietjet.
