Hi All

I am hoping this is a quick question

Is it possible to buy a RTW from Tokyo and get an Asia Airpass?

We are looking at a RTW starting in Tokyo, but before that we have some time in Kuala Lumpur.

Getting from KL to Tokyo appears to be more expensive than flying from Australia. In fact most internal flights with the exception of the LCC seem to be quite costly.

Is this doable? Is it cheaper?

1) You'd generally need a ticket originating outside of Asia to qualify for the Asia Airpass. Your RWSTAR ex-NRT won't help (i'm assumng you're actually referring to the *A RTW ticket). Presumably you have a return ticket on a *A carrier to position you to/from Asia? Even an award ticket would do.

2) You'd also need 3 segments to qualify for the Asia Airpass.

thanks for the reply :D

we are heading to KL using Air Asia and back using QFF reward flight (hopefully)

I guess I could read the fine print on the asia airpass oneworld equivalent and see if that might qualify
