Has anyone done this flight of late and have any review ? First time flying Singapore air, and was lucky enough to get a suite saver fare for it. Is it best to eat at one of the melb restaurant brand outlets than the lounge in mel ? What type of seat is it, hard to gauge as theres a few options i think...

Ben 228 now 773 - no Suites - check your booking my friend.

More specifically do not eat before boarding - drink a Moët / Piper or 3 in Lounge but no food - enjoy - SQ F as apposed to SQ R (Suites) still fabulous experience - enjoy - report back pls - we love pics too!

Will definetly take pics and report! Do you know if it's the new first class? Have all the 77W Birds been refitted yet or still luck of the draw?

77W not being refitted - new F only on new 77W - 99% you will be on old F - mind you old F still spectacular - no glitz - no glamour - just a great experience.

Hi Ben174
try SQtalk for TR and photos there are plenty there particularly from SQeeze. Of course if your trip is later next year you may be getting the New F at the moment confined to LHR and NRT routes . Enjoy either way

I flew SQ217 last tuesday and took photos of F (non-refurb). It's on my laptop so I'll post some pics up later when I get home if you want. It does look bit outdated, but still a superb experience and flight.

So does that mean there that SQ228 MEL-SIN, which is a 777-300ER (77W), will have the old F seat until Mar 2015, or do all the 77W's have the new F seats???

No only the 3 new ones have new F, the 4th one has just touched down in SIN this week. The old 77W's don't start refurbs until 2016 I believe

Does anyone have an update on SQ228 being the new fitout/plane from next month? Ausbt reported last year that it would be but I can't find much else confirming it except other reports that are referencing Ausbt. Booked F on the 4th April based on the Austbt story and now I'm a little concerned. Could have gone though Sydney and even gotten a Suite instead (Much worse connecting times)

I didn't travel First, but merely J on SQ2 from SIN to HKG. It is significantly better than the A380 and 777-300ER current J.

The Key improvements include:

Much nicer seat to sit in for a day flight. It feels softer.

Many more cubby holes to put your phone/passport/laptop in.

An area to store your laptop bag near your feet, which the current J seats (and the SQ staff) don't let you do.

Walking thru First it did look impressive too, but I feel J has the greater improvement.

So just completed this flight the other day, Love the plane and the seats however being my first time in F I'm sure I'm easy to please. Honestly the flight though was pretty bad, very rude passenger who was upset about an infant in F even though though she actually did not make a sound for the whole 8 hours and flight crew who's service was "OK" but did not step in at all when said passenger made numeros comments throughout the flight about an infant on board and even suggested to my face that we must be upgrades. However our second flight SQ328 (Old F) was just amazing! The flight crew where by far the best I have ever experienced and other passengers very friendly and accepting. With a free seat availbile our little one slept for 8 hours played quietly for 2 and went for a walk when she got a little fussy. Best flight of my life and did not even notice that this was an older plane or product.

That is very disappointing for you Eggsbenedict. We travel with our 13 month old son and haven't had anyone say anything to us. Mind you, the gentleman would not be backward in being forward if someone was being rude. People really need to remember it is just fancy public transport! Glad that the second flight was much better. What a shame your experience was soured though.

So sorry to hear that Eb - I just wish I had been there and heard the comments - said pax would have been squarely and rightfully put back in place - glad you enjoyed second sector.

What is it with some people - its not like all of us have not been infants at one point in time - sheesh.
