SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Not how I read it

Mix miles and cash to offset part of the total cost of your Singapore Airlines or Scoot flight ticket, starting from 1,000 miles (previously 1,050 miles)
105 KrisFlyer miles = SGD 1100 KrisFlyer miles = SGD 1 NEW

This part of it is ok, it was more that way the message was worded about over the coming months,,,,,

Asked for SQ bears on SQ228 for my niece and head steward came to apologise to say that it’s company policy now it’s only for travelling minors 😢
Got four bears 2 years ago in SQ J !! (including those chef ones 😍)
Will try again on the return leg in F! Hopefully a bit more flexible up the front..
I was offered three (one for each daughter) without asking for them, when chatting to a flight attendant in J on SQ24 earlier this month. Came packaged in a purple SQ plastic bag, with the polite request that I not let other passengers see that they were coming home with me. I put them straight into my bag. Didn't realise they were such prized objects until after it had happened. Kids were delighted with them, as it happens. SBD

Slight update
SQ336 was a little less rigid - but CSM still came to me directly to say it’s policy now only for children and he’ll do me a favour this time and ‘sneak’ one to me mid flight which he just did in the cover of dimmed lights lol surely these cost 50cents to produce a pop? Why the stinginess?

Never been offered a bear but we have requested PJs from the suites/1st to no avail as well 🤣 . The PJ request is because they make comment about the QF PJs we wear

Probably about that much to produce at scale, but the bigger saving comes in not carrying a stock of bears around the world, and would be substantial (think AA's $40k olive removal in the 1980s)

I personally have no issue with bears being restricted to children only. If you'd like one as an adult, various limited edition designs are usually available to purchase via KrisShop.

I cannot see any marking which indicates that this bear is from SQ. You sure they didn't get it from Kmart?

I would not mix up Pelengo or Kris+ with the SQ frequent flyer program. I think they have been trying to drive up usage since the release of these 2 programs / apps. I personally use Kris+ to pay for bubble tea and ramen, and outlets I talked to told me that they do get a few customers paying with Kris+. Having said that, Kris+ have been doing the weekly check-in challenge basically since its arrival into Australia which is giving free money away every week (and I get them every week), and there are also plenty of promos as well (like right now, there is spend $30 or more anywhere using Kris+ with MasterCard and get $6 back, or spend $5 x 3 times at cafes and get $5 back). I mean, I wonder if they are making money from this when they are giving so much free money away.

During latest bookings I noticed that mixed SQ/*A awards have been already devalued in the sense they didn’t match the *A award chart. When I tried to challenge the miles quoted I was given various excuses until one supervisor was honest enough to admit there has been changes to the award chard which has not yet been officially published.

Also, the taxes I paid for some recent bookings were significantly higher compared to exact same routes booked only few months ago :( Those bookings involve other *A partners on top of SQ so I can’t say for sure who is to blame this. It seems that on itineraries with only SQ flights miles and taxes are still the same for now.

Oh, that makes sense then... I did a search recently and wondered whether my memory was failing me or whether the points required on a redemption had increased... perhaps my memory is not as based as I thought it was becoming lately...

Taxes have increased, or the fuel/carrier surcharges have increased?

Stellar crew on SQ336.

Feeling a little regretful now of shifting my revenue business to QF on account of their lifetime status (cf. SQ).

I asked if there was fruit and was served fruit from breakfast at the end of supper service, and was pleasantly surprised they offered me fruit appetiser from F as replacement during breakfast service as substitute.

Time absolutely flew by, felt like I was in the air for mere moments. Simply no better way to fly!
