Save the date! The 2026 AFF annual member gathering will be in Adelaide from 30 October - 1 November 2026.

This event will include welcome drinks on Friday evening, a winery tour to McLaren Vale on Saturday, and a more formal dinner with a guest speaker on Saturday evening.

All AFF members and their friends & family are welcome to attend. Most people usually fly into the host city on Friday afternoon, and leave on Sunday afternoon. Of course, if you're an Adelaide local, the flying part is optional. ;)

You can read more about the planned activities, dinner venues and costs and post #2 of this thread.

There is a $5 registration fee per participant, plus the cost of any activities and/or meals that you choose to join.

If you'd like to attend, keep an eye out for updates on this thread - and feel free to post your status (see below for more info)! Once you've booked flights and accommodation, please also post your flight/hotel details in this thread!

For those unfamiliar with the AFF terminology:
  • "Platinum" means your attendance is confirmed and you have booked flights/accommodation
  • "Gold" means you're likely to attend but will need to confirm at a later time
  • "Silver" means you're unlikely to attend at this stage
  • "Bronze" means you're unable to attend.
The entire AFF team looks forward to seeing you in October in Adelaide! :D

Those of you from Adelaide, what do you suggest is the best way from the airport to the city (Pullman) in the early afternoon? Taxi or uber? These days I’m more for convenience than price. For example, I’m taking the train to the airport, which I often do because it is so very easy. My flight departs at 9:30am. Private driver would mean tackling peak hour traffic. I would rather sit comfortably on the train, reading, and arrive at the airport relaxed and ready for breakfast in the Lounge! 😊

There is a bus stop a short walk from arrivals. (Turn left past the taxis.)

A bus will cost a few dollars and they are fairly frequent. Not much longer than driving. Tap your credit or debit card and off you go.

I’ll second the bus and also note that the Pullman is about 100 m walk from the bus stop serviced by the city bound airport buses (H1 Grenfell St).

I normally catch the bus (J1 or J2 (both city-bound), not J7 or J8). You'll need to walk up to where the cars are, turn left, then continue walking past the taxi rank (I hope that image below is of assistance). There's no rail to ADL. You shouldn't have to wait more than 15 minutes for the bus. There's no airport surcharge to use the bus either - so that's definitely a benefit. The bus stop to get off at in the CBD would be H1 on Grenfell Street - this stop is only a 1- or 2-minute walk to the Pullman (I've stayed there plenty of times: it's a nice place).

Of course, taxi, Uber, and Didi would be more comfortable, require less walking, and would be quicker but come at a higher expense. It then comes down to how much is that comfort worth?

Just go with an Uber then you don’t have to manage luggage in the bus. I would be surprised if it was more than $20 in fact it will probably be less than $15.

I will only have a carry on, and I like using public transport. As there’s no rush, I think I’ll give the bus a try. Thanks for your information, guys. 🙂
