June 2025 | SQ241 | SIN to SYD
Since deciding to avoid short red-eye flights after not enjoying my
last one, I did the complete opposite and went with the 0715 departure this time round. Despite the early wake-up I actually think this will be my go-to option going forward, it helps with the time zone reset as well!
The airport was nice and quiet at 5am so after finishing my duty-free shopping I made my way to the T3 SilverKris lounge, which was also a much better experience than last time with good breakfast food and drinks in the fridge which were actually cold! It was super easy to get a seat at this time of the day as well.
After an enjoyable lounge stay it was a short walk to the gate and boarding commenced right on time. Went with an orange juice for my PDB.
I also requested one of the smart-looking amenity kits from Le Labo.
I think the food service on this flight is close to perfect; they serve the lighter meal (breakfast) first and then the larger meal (lunch/dinner) closer to arrival. For breakfast I went with the carrot cake, which was delightful, and paired it with a vanilla bourbon tea.
Afterwards I watched a movie and made use of the free Wi-Fi and the A350's live TV. Before long, just when we were flying by Kata Tjuta, the lunch service began with the signature satay skewers.
This was followed by the seared tuna loin entree with some warm bakery...
And although perhaps it's a bit boring, I couldn't help but book the lobster thermidor again!
After dinner the dessert trolley was wheeled out, from which I chose the mascarpone cream cake. "Could I get some cheese as well?" "Of course!"
Everything tasted amazing and the servings were substantial, after all of this they even came around with chocolates! It was an insane amount of food for a seven hour flight and there was certainly no need for dinner after getting home. Had to have a glass of Japanese whiskey after dessert.
Service from the crew was great with special mention to Elise who looked after my section of the cabin. Most people went to sleep either after departure or after the first meal however they didn't force anyone to close their windows, which was appreciated as I love admiring the view. I'm not sure but I think the toilet up the front may have been out of order as I don't recall ever seeing the vacant light, however with two more at the back this didn't present an issue.
All in all a fantastic flight and I think these day-time flights between Singapore and Sydney are the way forward for me, so much easier than the overnights!
