SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

J flights I've been tracking to Europe (specifically MXP) as of the last few days have switched to being advantage only with no saver option. Is saver likely to be released at some point on those dates, or should I start looking at alternatives entry points (only currently have enough for two saver J flights).

I would track other cities just in case. Zurich and Munich are still showing 4+ saver seats (out of Melbourne) at calendar end. Fly or train south from there if you need. Zurich has multiple non stop trains per day to Milan

I have found the MXP/FCO/BCN routes generally have less availability compared to the rest of Europe

How far away are the dates you want to book?

Thanks for the advice! Looking at mid-end May so coming up to T-355 for these flights. Zurich is the other city I'm tracking so that works! Wonder what's happening in Milan at that time.

Aren’t some of those airports the mid point for their fifth-freedom flights on to USA…? So you’re competing not just with end-point redemptions. (Or am I getting g confused with emirates )

I believe that the only Fifth Freedom flight that Singapore Airlines flies out of Europe to the USA is from Frankfurt: FRA-JFK (I believe that they cancelled MAN-IAH a month or two ago?).

Yeah I think I’m thinking doesn’t their BCN route go via MXP?

Depends on the time of year and the day of week.

From 22 Jun- 8 Sep the two cities are decoupled. Only SIN-BCN or SIN-MXP services.

For the rest of the year ( I think) it is 2xweekly SIN-BCN, 3xweekly SIN-MXP-BCN and 4x weekly SIN-MXP services .

Hoping someone can help/advise me. Can we access the KF lounges at Changi if flying J class, we have our boarding passes BUT our flight isnt for 48hrs? We are airside and arrived about 6hrs ago

I don’t think so as it is >24hrs therefore I’d guess it would be considered arrival access. Can always ask, the worst outcome is that they say no.

Yeah, MXP is always a hard one to get. Need to book as soon as they open up and sometimes saver is already gone by then. Have to "fight" for a seat every year (booking mid august) and last year had to return from Zurich.

Has anyone had recent experience accessing the Krisflyer gold lounges in SIN of late? This will be the first time we have been transiting through as family of 4 (myself - KF gold, my wife, 2yo child and infant). I understand the rule is only 1 guest and infants under 2. Just curious if they would be flexible to accommodate us given we have a 2yo+infant. Cheers.

How difficult is it to change routing on a reward seat? I have a J SQ SGN-SIN-SYD flight that I want to change to BKK-SIN-SYD, same dates. Plenty of J availability for BKK-SIN.

I recently called SQ for a F reward flight to change the dates, It was done within a few minutes and no fees or points penalty. Not sure if that's the norm or if I had a really good and helpful Rep on the phone?

If it was a voluntary change you should have been charged a change fee I think

If there's been any schedule change on your itinerary (even 10 min), in my experience you can move +/- 7 days with no fees
