SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I was in 3F when I flew new suites so didn’t see but at what point can the wall between rows 1 and 2 be lowered? Do you need to wait till after takeoff or can it be done straight away?
Crikey - good question - TBH I don't know - I had my back to it on t/o so did not notice - they pulled it down at my request post t/o and mad 1 bed so I could try it - and TBH I don't remember if it was raised again before landing or not.

Other 2 cracks O have had in new F I was in #F both times.

Has anyone managed to get two double bed seats (on the new A380 config) on an award flight? The flight I'm on shows they're blocked out (per the SIA website) but not occupied (per EF).

Yes, SQ221 SIN-SYD.

From what I recall our 1A/2A wall was down at boarding and stayed that way

Edit, Ok I called them up. May only be 2 of us, but 1 is for the bassinet and may be a baby so I moved over to 1F.

Is anyone able to see the which seats are available on SQ288 on 03 May - all of row 1 please? It's a 777.

Yes, +1 and I had 1A, 2A on an award saver, new configuration SIN-ZRH late last year. Was able to select on line with no issues.

Indeed 1A / 2A combo can be selected online - 1F is bassinet Seat so you must call to select - I have the Ette in 1F and myself in 2F as I am RHD:

3 days to go and now the whole of F is full. The centre seat next to me is now occupied. Only seat available is the dreaded 4 F. Should've stayed in the window.

What is wrong with 4F? I have sat there couple of times - it's fine IMHO - there is no such thing as a bad Suite in old R.

OTOH - if you are prepared to roll the dice your fellow pax in 3F may decide they don't want to sit next to you and voluntarily move from 3F to 4F when they see it is vacant - if it is indeed still vacant at time of dep. Decisions decisions!

On the A380, seat 4 F is almost aligned with the galley and congregating area. I assume 4A is the same. I like your 2nd point, I will stay positive that whomever is sitting next to me chooses row 4 instead. I also have to hope that no one goes into 2C/D, then my seat mate and I can have our 2 seats each.

Is there much difference btw row 1 and 2 C/D?

So you haven't called to request 2C or 2D? Get onto it right away. Row 2 being centre Suites far superior to the window seats if you can snag one and have the other vacant. 4F is still not aligned to galley - it's well forward - IMHO it's no biggie sitting there.

I'm a bit confused as I have done the SIN - JFK before and row 4 has been empty and crew stash stuff there and it's very close to the galley.

Yep, phoned them and he put me in row 1. Next time I chkd, I was moved to row 2. I'll wait now till I get to SIN as I do not want to sleep almost in the galley if they put ME in 4.

FYI anyone travelling to HKG

Row 4 is closet to Galley YES - but it's not like it is right beside Galley - and YES crew do use it to store stuff IF the Suite is not being used.

You can't confirm one passenger twice on the one flight.

Passenger 1 will either have to confirm the 218 in J OR F, not both. While you may technically be able to do it, the airline will cancel one of them. While they should ask you which one, they may not, and you might lose the one you wanted to keep.

Ah yes you can MEL - I have confirmed bookings for F 218/828 MEL-SIN-PVG and J 218/830 MEL-SIN-PVG this Sun May 5 - both bookings conf for 6mths - I will cancel the F prolly Fri. This is not first time either - it can indeed be done.

If you read my post - while a passenger may technically be able to do this the airline can review the flight at any time and cancel one of the bookings.

Duplicate bookings, which the passenger cannot possibly take, may also have restricted availability for others wanting those seats.

ok thanks for the feedback, so what would you guys do for future reference? and this case
I booked separately in case it was easier to get 2 x single seats rather than 1x pair of seats i nthe same booking

and there is nothing unethical or immoral about being on the waiting list for F when I have J confirmed is there?
