SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

The child/infant can't be seated by themselves. Will need an accompanying adult in the chosen class of service. For adults (with infant), splitting across cabins is entirely possible.
love this forum, so bloody informative

i havent even travelled on singapore airlines in my life and know more than the avaerage person

@LadyC @ninja-tim - similar situation with the kiddo. Contemplating one last hurrah (again) before #1 turns 2, but #2 is now on the way so feel like F (and potentially even J) would be a waste as she wouldn't be able to partake. Have you ever split the fam across cabins?

(for reference we did Y+ UA SYD-IAH a month ago, and by now it's just a distant memory, although at the time it was a bit of a challenge with sharing him across our laps for the stint). Y+ in UA definitely worth it for the legroom but that's for a different thread.
Luckily enough we haven't needed to yet. We have had to book 2 x saver and 1 x advantage but in the same cabin. I have definitely considered different cabins and even different flights altogether but stars have always aligned in finding a suitable alternative.

I note that if we split up it would always be me travelling with MasterC and the gentleman separately.

Same in this house hold. Already tried the other way to see the reaction.. got the look

Yes, I know the look. Well I know how to give the look anyway :D

The way I read it, it sounded like if the wife couldn't partake then it was wasted....

I think that it was a reference to it being a waste on the child but I could be wrong. I understand that some people don't want to spend the extra points on F for their children. It probably depends upon how many points/money they have. But as the saying goes 'You do you'.

Help please very short on time. A friends miles are about to expire and he is happy to gift them to me. I think i read somewhere this can be done. A 101 would be great please. Thanks

Your friend can buy you a ticket from their account in your name, but they can’t transfer the miles from their account to your account.

Alternatively if your friend has a velocity account they could transfer the miles there.

Can they transfer them into my velocity account?

Thanks all for your help everyone. Am going to see whether you can use krisflyer brooms to make a booking in someone else's name or otherwise he will add me as a redemption friend and then make a virgin booking for me.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You can use KF points to buy a ticket for anyone on the nominee list.

But you run the risk that once redeemed and if the points have expired, not a lot you can do if you need to cancel the booking.

Transferring to velocity will potentially give more options and longer life.

so what you are saying is that if you book a flight in year 3 of your points, for year 4, and then cancel it, you get ZERO refund of points?

Correct. For krisflyer, only points that wouldn’t have otherwise expired will be refunded to the account. Any points refunded retain their original expiry date.

thats a good warning, if you mistakingly got the dates mixed up or forgot, it would be a very nasty surprise to cancel the ticket and to get 0 points back,

keep you on your toes
