SQ offering status without flying

Is that to transfer VA points to SQ. I do not have that many points at the moment as I off loaded all of mine before the devaluation and the rest before VA went in to administration. I like many others would welcome the resumption of points transfers.
yes I am very happy. Cant wait for transfers to resume from VA to SQ. Accumulated 900k Velocity during COVID pandemic.

I have come late to the accumulation party, but I will shortly have 515k KF, 240k VA and 335k Flybuys. I will have to resist the temptation to transfer them all into time-limited KF points. I would struggle to chew through 800k KF in the next three years.

Yes you can. Just don't transfer the extra 250k until your status is updated to show that you have EG now. Starting from no status mine took a few days until it updated as I posted earlier in this thread. Once I was showing as EG with 250k KF miles my Account Summary then showed "Requalify for Elite Gold. From 5 Feb 2022 you have earned 0 Elite Miles. To requalify, you need 50,000 by 28 Feb 2023". If you don't wait until you have been upgraded to Elite Gold the extra 250k won't count for an extra year.

Last night I transferred another 250k miles from Amex and the miles updated instantly, as did the Statement page showing Accruals of 250,000 miles from Amex and "Unlock Status Credits Campaign" of 50,000 Elite Miles. My Account Summary now shows "KrisFlyer Elite Gold requalification 50,000
Elite Miles. Earned 50,000. Required 0 by 28 Feb 23".
Ok, thanks, so far so good. My points have hit and my status is shown thus - I guess I'm EG till 31 Jan 2024
So I should just add 250k points before the end of February to get another year of EG ie to 31 Jan 2025?

Point of interest: my first lot of Amplify points transferred virtually instantly, the second lot took six days.

That’s your call. I think the wording on the policy about carryin points forward is rather ambiguous and I would not be 100% certain they would qualify you until January 2015. You also have to ask yourself how much you would use gold status and how easily you could spend your KF miles before they expire. If the transfer would force you to spend points on sobering you don’t really want just to avoid losing then then I’d say it was not a wise bargain,

In post #115 by hclee01 in this thread on Flyer Talk that I linked to last week he answers a query about retaining status and he links to a web page with a detailed overview of the current offer. It appears that if we have transferred enough miles a second time to have status extended to Feb 2024 then the SQ one year extension of elite status should then be extended to Feb 2025 without you transferring another 250k miles again. Your dates are to 31 Jan so you should be automatically extended to 31 Jan 2025, according to what was posted below, which I hope is correct.

If so, once you transfer 250K miles into your account, the account should be updated to KF Elite Gold status within 2 ~ 3 days. It will show that your KF Elite Gold status will be due for renewal by 28 Feb 2023. Thereafter, if you transfer another 250K miles into your KF account, the dashboard will show that you have attained the renewal requirements for Gold Status and account will be renewed on 28 Feb 2023 (for another year till 28 Feb 2024). Given that currently, there is a one-year extension of elite status granted by SQ, on 28 Feb 2023, your account will be automatically be renewed for another year till 28 Feb 2024. The 50K elite miles that you have accrued for renewal will then be re-credited to account after 28 Feb 2023 and it will then be used to renew your Elite Gold status when it is due for renewal on 28 Feb 2024. Hence, your elite gold status will be good till 28 Feb 2025.

If you need a detailed understanding of the program mechanics, this article gives a good detailed overview:

From the mainlymiles.com article mentioned in the above post:

One-year status extension

The great thing about the deal is that Singapore Airlines is automatically extending your KrisFlyer or PPS Club status for another year from the end of its existing expiry month, as part of membership support packages announced last month.

This is the third membership extension the airline has offered and means those who have earned status on the ground, or will do so by the end of this month, will keep it for at least two years and up to three years in some cases.

Extension of Elite membership will take place in accordance with the following table.

Current Expiry MonthRenewal DateNew Expiry Month
Mar 202231 Mar 2022Mar 2023

Jan 202331 Jan 2023Jan 2024
Feb 202328 Feb 2023Feb 2024

As you can see, new KrisFlyer Elite Gold memberships achieved this month (February 2022), which would normally be valid until 28th February 2023, will now be automatically extended until 28th February 2024.

Earn or retain status till 2024 or 2025

If you’re a KrisFlyer member and you haven’t achieved your status upgrade or retention yet, this is the perfect month to do it, since you’ll get a fresh membership year through to February 2023, which will then automatically be extended to 2024 as part of the status extension.

For those have sufficient credit card points to repeat the process, giving them enough Elite miles to qualify until February 2024, the status extension means they’ll be good until the end of February 2025.

If I throw another 250k at KF, my total will be 750k which is easily mopped up on two 2x saver J return trips to EU. I then still have 3M Amex Rewards and 2.5M Dragon Rewards points to burn by Jan 2025.

Thank you for your comprehensive and patient reply. I had replied on my phone and had missed the flyertalk link upthread (senior moment!).

I travel solo so I guess it is twice the effort for me to burn points.

Wow, count yourself very lucky to have such large balances!
I wish I could earn that many points that quickly (especially with Amex -> KF at 2:1), even with the cost of living rising it still doesn't cause the point-earning to increase that drastically.
I'd love to know the secrets of gaining point balances in these numbers!

Mostly for the high credit card balances it is running a business and putting business expenses through the personal credit card. For a variety of reasons, accountants advise against it.

Apply for a us Amex . Transfer to that account to achieve a better conversion ratio .

Thought as much... it's nigh on impossible to rack up that many points with just personal spend (especially as a regular middle class average Joe/Jane).
Ah, back to the regular grind and picking up a measly amount of points with each transaction that's paid for :)

Ah that's quite an interesting idea... Are they still at 1:1?

The black art of "manufactured spending". Rarely discussed on public fora less the scheme gets shut down. I earnt 2 million KF via EBP before it got shut down 😉

CC churning?

Just had a look at my SQ details. Should I go for gold now with this promotion or wait until later in the year to hit Gold for a longer extension by flying on SQ?

The current offer allows elite miles to be earned from credit card points transfers until 28 February. The offer may be extended or come back again, but it may not. If you want to be gold and have no plans to earn elite miles through flying, then getting gold now is the way to go.

Yesterday I transferred enough points to reach EG. Online it says I need 50,000 by 28 Feb 2023.
But looking at some past comments will I just get it extended anyway for another year without doing anything? (I am hoping)

Thx.

Yes, based on current promotions it will be extended for a further year until Feb 2024. Any elite miles you have on 28 February will be carried across for a further year to count towards the renewal in 2024.

(the dates in my post are specific to your own membership cycle and would be different for people whose cycle ends in a month other than February).
