I wonder if you can use it in the Duty Free lolly shop

Pretty sure you can. My guys bought a variety of items in a perfume shop. There was no need to add hard cash, no change.

Thanks for your thoughts, I'll try and get in touch with Changai Airport. It's either burn points and fly SilkAir or fly Tiger Airways... decisions decisions..

I especially like MI J. And it would be a nice start to a HKT trip!

You most certainly can. I got myself a 6x100g pack of Toblerone, a Ritter Sport bar and two (UK version) Flakes just over a week ago. They don't give change for the vouchers. The lady at the shop suggested that I get a second Flake to get it up to $40 and didn't even ask for the nine cents extra over the $40 that the total was. Very nice.

Reply from Changai Airport already...

The terms of the offer do require one PNR showing both sectors. However, if you can send me a copy of your e-tickets for both the SYD-SIN and Silkair sectors, I will see if we can arrange for you to collect the CDV at Changi Terminal 2 before your Silkair flight. You will need to present the boarding pass of the SYD-SIN sector and departure on the second leg cannot be more than 24 hours after arrival at Changi.

Hope this helps others...

I passed thru Changi on the 18/2 about 1800 and they we all out of vouchers for the day :(
They advise to collect on my return trip. So will see if they have any when I arrive Sat 23/2 when I arrive at 0420.

Thanks, Changi!!! Not
Been thru with Mrs D, in late November and saw NO SIGN of this offer.
Would have liked $80 off the duty-free perfumes for Christmas.
Oh well. Never mind :(

Got $120 worth of these vouchers last week and was in transit at Changi yesterday. For some stupid reason, I thought we had 3 hours to kill. One hour passes, taking my time deciding what to buy with my vouchers, husband comes bolting over, screaming "the gate's closing!!". Sprinted to the gate (never ran so hard in my life!) and just made the flight. Sat in my horrible whY seat fuming at myself for having got the times muddled and subsequently not getting to spend $120 of "free" money!! Fast forward to today and I see the expiry is March 2014 and not 2013 as I'd thought! I should really learn to read properly!

Just got my vouchers from the info desk.... Now sitting in silver kris lounge debating what I'm going to spend them on. :)

I am transitting through Singapore on Friday on flight from Brisbane to coughet with eligible tickets (Singapore / SilkAir with flights beginning with 618) and then back again next Tuesday with my wife. Will we be able to collect on both legs or $80 each ($160 total) or just $40 each ($80 total)?

That is the way it seems to be working. Those two transits could get very stressful unless you indulge in the Singapore hobby of shopping.

You can also save up the vouchers form your first transit to then spend on a large bounty on your second transit. Of course you do run the risk of a compressed transit and not being able to spend them on the second transit of your inbound flight is delayed.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks Albatross, I hope to enjoy the trip! and the shopping although my wife will take the lot!

I'm travelling to SIN on SQ but onwards to LHR on BA as I need to arrive v. early at LHR T5 for an onward connection. But back all the way LHR-MEL on SQ. Would I have any hope of getting the voucher on the outward trip? That's when I would have more time to spare. In fact, I'd plan to use it to pay part of the cost of a room for a few hours in the Transit Hotel. Does anyone know if the voucher can be used for that? If I'm eligible only on the all-SQ return trip then it's of less interest as I rarely buy anything at SIN when I have a neat connection. (Not eligible for any lounge access.)

I would say no. It's still possible to spend $40 pretty quickly at SIN with all the shops and you only need 10 minutes max to do so.

From memory they need to see both boarding passes, the one on which you arrived and the pass on which you are leaving Changi. I'd say you don't qualify on your outbound journey but still worth getting on the return..even if you feel a little better about recovering some of your airport 'taxes'

Went through on transit through to coughet. Was flying Singapore and then Silk. We received it on trip to coughet and tried again on return but because it was all on the one ticket only received cash once. It was welcome money!

OK, that makes sense as we travelled on one way redemption each way.

How did they know that you had claimed on the first transit?

They record ticket number when you claim dollars. When you claim on return it shows you claimed previously

OK, they must have been improving their system. When I was there they were just jotting it onto paper book which I thought was pretty lax.

Looks like they are closing a loop hole:

4. A S$40 Changi Dollar Voucher may only be claimed once for each ticket issued, either on the outgoing or the return leg of the itinerary.
