Hi Everyone,
Apologies if this has already been posted before, but I just have a quick question regarding SQ Elite Status Qualification.
I recently joined SQ KrisFlyer in May 2010 and have done some travelling on SQ and MI in the last few months. I just achieved their Silver Status, but was shocked to learn now that I need a fresh new 50,000 elite miles to qualify for Gold. I would've thought as long as I've done 50,000 elite miles in one year I should qualify for their Gold Status, but it seems I now need to do 75,000 elite miles in my first year (25,000 for silver + another 50,000 miles after Silver) to achieve Gold.
Is this common with Star Alliance Airlines? I am WP with Qantas and think back many years ago when I first joined their Frequent Flyer, I went from Bronze to Gold in about 4 months after attaining 700 SCs. It didn't require me to earn 700 SCs after I achieve QF PS Status? Any thoughts? Should I have joined another Program instead of SQ KrisFlyer?
Thank you!
Cheers,
Mike79
