Spore changed my flight number/preferred seat selection to carry over?

So tonight whilst looking at my booking I noticed from ADL-SIN I had no seat selected, even though I have purchased a preferred seat and have the receipt.

I called through to Spore, who advised I still had that seat even though it wasn't reflecting on the site.

I called a second time, just to be sure! To be told, I don't have a preferred seat selection and to call through to the ADL Spore line. I advised that the guy I spoke with previously said I did have a seat.. and why was she telling me different..

So, when I gave more details.. blah blah and then suggested that would it be a 24hr period for the change to occur (even though in my line of thought, this would have happened when Spore changed the flight number) and I was advised yes..

And I'm still not so sure..

I was never advised of this change..

what are your thoughts? Had the same experience?

.. in their terms and conditions it states..

5. EMEX Preferred Seat assignment is 'seat and flight-specific'. The EMEX Preferred Seat assignment is separate for each flight, and are non-transferable between flights.

SO, does this mean, Spore can change flight numbers at their choosing and I now forfeit the cost of the preferred seat and it is now available to any passenger making a preferred seat selection even though I was not the one to make changes?

Getting back on topic and actually attempting to answer your question rather than poke holes in a new members post, yes they can change flight number if there has been a schedule change which does not happen often. When are you flying, what was the old flight number and what is the new one, given they have a single flight each day a flight number change seems odd!

I thought that it was obvious what Spore was referring to, and that is not the issue.

I don't know the answer to the OPs question, but it would seem that SQ has changed his flight, so he has lost his pre-paid seat. I don't know the definitive answer, but looking at the SQ website, this is what I could find:
Singapore Airlines Preferred Seat Selection FAQ
No. Preferred Seats are non-refundable if you make voluntary flight changes or cancellations. They are also non-transferable between flights and between persons.

and

There will be no refund of the Preferred Seat fees if you make voluntary flight changes or cancellation. If the Preferred Seat is not utilized because
the flight is disrupted; or
the flight is cancelled; or
the connecting flight from an inbound and/or outbound Singapore Airlines operated flight is missed because of flight re-timing
Singapore Airlines will pay you USD 50 or the local currency equivalent as full and final compensation, at the airport.

So I am guessing that if YOU changed the flight, you have lost the money, but if SQ changed the flight, that you will be due $50USD (or local equivalent) at the airport.

Any one else with experience of this?

Point is the OP is going ADL-SIN and there is only one flight and its flight number has not changed, so it does not make much sense, more info needed;)

I booked my flight on 28/04 on flight SQ0268 to dep 30/09 1150. This is the same day that I purchased my preferred seat.
I have made no change to my booking. And I was never advised of this change.
SIA changed the flight number. The new flight number is now SQ0278 and still dep on 30/09 1150.
So now, my receipt for my seat selection doesn't reflect the "new" flight number.
When I called, they advised, it was same dep/craft - just the number has been reassigned - and absolutely unwilling to discuss the seat matter with me on the phone and advised I go into a local office - which would be fine, if I didn't work the same hours they do..
And I am completely lost!

It seems they have changed the flight numbers, as reported elsewhere:

SQ278 ADL-SIN? - SQTalk

I would try an email rather than phone or a personal visit, you certainly dont seem at fault. Dont stress, its not until october so there is a lot of time to get it sorted.

So it seems SIA have changed the flight number, but not the details of the flight.
I would be contacting their Adelaide office to confirm the new details, and to reconfirm your wish for a preferred seat. If they can they will give you the seat, if not looks like USD50 is coming your way.

Haha, yeah I know, still plenty of time - was just getting a little confused and annoyed with their lack of knowledge and service.

Might have to make a quick visit through my break.

Thank you for your constructive help!

Time is indeed on your side. SQ will probably come to the party considering the circumstances.

As it is them who has changed the flight number, it will seem that they will have to pay you the $50USD at the airport if they do not put you into that seat you have paid for.

If SQ can not sort it out before the flight, I would be printing the page that I have attached the link for in my previous post, as atleast they can not fob you off but I can not see SQ doing something like that.

I suspect they are adding a second service that will use the old flight number hence the change and uncertain info at this early stage, airlines to major changes that often commence when the northern hemisphere winter timetable comes in.
