Something to see [Silo Art Trail]

Now that everyone isn't totally locked down, I'm sure you're all looking for something to visit. Issues remain, of course, in that hotels etc are still very restricted. But, if you're in Victoria the art silos really aren't that far from Melbourne. They are spread throughout the state.

The newest one is at Colbinabbin, a small town between Bendigo and Euroa. I've seen quite a few of them now, and this is possibly the best one. Easy drive from Melbourne, and it will get you out and about.

We haven't seen any yet, but we have a trip booked to WA in August to do the WA silo art trail, and hopefully they will open WA and we can fly in ! The silo art is a great idea.

We did a Paint Silo road trip about 2yrs ago, started in Adelaide and went to Victoria, stayed at some local pubs & motels on the way. Lots of fun and would love to see more

I came across this one at Karoonda not long ago and have seen a few others and it has definitely piqued my interest as they are stunning

We've seen all of the ones in Victoria, though it's a moving target with a number more in the planning stages. There's a trail heading north from Benalla, and another (also north) from Rupanyup towards Hopetoun.

A new line is also planned heading west from Dimboola.

Sea Lake is an especially nice example, as is Wirrabara in SA.

Sadly, there is an element within society that cannot keep their nose out of other people's business, so we get mobs trying to bring politics into it (these silos are NOT for politicians). One element cannot handle anything that isn't their form of green. Another is anti the planning of a line to commemorate our soldiers.

Thats a great map as it also includes street art and water towers ! I didnt know there were so many near us !
Red markers are for silos.
Purple markers are for water reservoirs.
Black markers for Street Art Towns.

My late father spent a large part of his career in designing the mechanical aspects of grain silos both in Australia and overseas, and a younger brother spent a lot of time on their roofs welding the parts in place. I will have to start checking our how some of their's have been decorated!

Well today I am setting out on the first bit of the Tassie water tower and street art trail.Well not officially a trail but there are 3 painted water towers and 2 significant street art sites.
