I got to 200kmh in a rental Peugeot diesel just following other cars. Just have to drive like the locals. I also used the car horn liberally as per local custom
At the end of the trip I added a few minor dents to the existing collection butI had full coverage


I got out of Paris and toured France with just the fold up maps you get from the bookshops and Travel agents in Australia and hotel issued local maps in France.

Yes I remember sitting on a Péage from Paris CDG to Normandy at 160 getting passed by everything including several Renault Espace with family plus surf boards on the roof.

It's historic, back in the day when they were new, that model won the Safari in 1971.

Not sure about the gearbox, but it would be an inline six.

The Datsun 240z was reasonably sucessful in the seventies here in Australia, before going to the Violets and so.

Don't think they campaigned the 1600 here as a factory, however they are possibly the most rallied car here now, almost indestructable, ask @drron.....

I always go by the badge on the front of them at the time they were released. The 1600 will always be a Datto 1600. And the 24-ounce, and its later 26-ounce sibling are always going to be Datsuns to me

Poking the bear but I have been looking at EV's to replace SWMBO's XC60..
Current top of the pops is a KIA EV3 GT followed by Audi Q4 and and….dozens of others.
I opine that there is a massive ev (and ice) shakeout looming as the Chinese flood the market with flashy today cars that may have no tomorrow in terms of long term support.
KIA and VW should survive the slaughter but its a hard call...

Volvo service in Au not great anymore as the dealers fold.. great brand in trouble imo

Update to the wiring loom issue, new bar and loom sent to the workshop as for some reason the new loom isn't compatable with the old bar. Makes no sense to me. The workshop takes the old bar off, new bar on, fit the new loom, instructions and handbook in box, no they aren't, sigh.
On the phone to VW Australia, they have no idea of what is going on as it is apparently the first one done here and the ecu needs a code.
VW here get in touch with VW Germany to request code. Waiting, waiting....
So after dropping the car off Monday morning, it is now 16:30 Tuesday, no code from HQ....
Time differences might be the issue, or maybe the request is in someones inbox.
Feel for the workshop guys, it's no real issue for us as we can make do. Must be so frustrating to be given the runaround, workshop boss very apologetic, he is thankful we can see the funny side to it all, after all, it's been 10 months. He said not everyone is as relaxed as us when things like this occur.

Despite recently buying a Mercedes EQA250+, seems to me the choice these days should be BYD for SEALION, SEAL etc. Maybe Polestar.
