So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

I have been fantasising about a convertible, but almost every one I see is driven with the top up, even in qld.
Collectible cars are booming as a genre , and the prices asked for very common old cars is stratospheric.

Do you drive an older (collectible ) car?
For fun you might consider attending a few “ coffee with old crs” events around BNE. One is occurring at 07.00 at Elysium (Victoria Point shopping centre) on the 3rd February, and another at Sirromet on the 17th February.
And if you want to see a really big turnout of MG’s , Easter in Cleveland as they host the national MG Rally would be a good place to start.

I had Audi adjust my pre-sense function to less sensitive. I was driving down the road - normal lane either side and parked cars. Drive it several times a week. Road was quiet as early, no oncoming cars and thankfully nothing behind me. Car slams on the pre-sense, to the point it jarred my neck and left me sore for a day or two.

Even adjusted, just recently I was driving down a sloping street and towards the bottom was a small speed hump. Slammed it on again there.

Let's hope the race to have technology doesn't kill us.

There are aspects of new car technologies which I really enjoy, but generally speaking I still like to be the driver of the car.
It seems to me, that once we drove a car, now we seem to just steer it !

I feel like some aspects of my car (eg the auto brake) are designed for the lowest common denominator....

I do not GPH, and until I face up to divesting the two wheeled toys there will no four wheel replacement.
I have been looking about though , which is most of the fun.
A hot beach buggy is currently #1 option although someone doing some work for me has a drop dead gorgeous Lotus super 7
I am really over punting cars and doubt I would ever bother with track days and the like.
A buggy would be a hoot on Straddie or Moreton and fine as a runabout.
How is the b going, looked at a few at a recent show and remembered that you had one.

Some say the automatic transmission fits into that category

So the auto in the car now include:
Auto Transmission
Auto Emergency brake
Auto Cruise control with adjustable safe distance
Auto traffic creep
Auto reverse Parking
Auto headlights on
Auto highbeam dipping
Auto car hill hold
Auto windscreen wipers
Auto lane keeping
Auto pilot

I do like the above but would pay a pretty penny for:
Auto self clean
Auto refuel

Interesting occurance going to Sydney last week on the Hume Highway, police with lights on stopped by side of road booking (I presume) a driver, truck in front of us tries to slow to 40kph as do all the other vehicles near us. I presume because of the new rule.

Received NRMA magazine today and a letter states they that were driving in a similar situation on a freeway and slowed to 40kph, the motorcyclist behind didn't and rear ended them.

Seems another well thought through road rule, in city driving I can understand it but on a highway going from 100/110kph to 40kph could cause more issues.

Hmm, been thinking about a new car for a while, but as I can't make a decision to save my self, it's been delayed. 2013 Focus, coolant in the driver's footwell,. either leaking hose or heater matrix. Not an easy fix, dash has to come out if it's the matrix. Service guy says he doubts in covered under the extented warranty we have.

Given the car is less than 6 years old and has less than 100,000kms on it, I'm less than impressed, to put it mildly! If it won't be done under warranty, I'm not letting the dealer touch it and I'll take it somewhere else, or if it cools down a bit, I may try it my self.

Not well thought through at all.
If they really want to do that then signage needs to be visible some significant distance prior to the location. The massive and fully laden B doubles would take significant time and distance to slow down - maybe 100-150m

As my car's a shiny black, would definitely pay a pretty penny for the self-cleaning feature.

I love the look of a beautifully prepared black car with high gloss and no swirl marks... so long as someone else has to maintain it :)

Unfortunately that 'somebody else' is me :(

On the plus side, my car's opticoated and thus a fortnightly wash takes very little time - the dust just 'falls off' :D

How much did you pay for opti-coat?

I got my current car pant corrected and ceramic pro treated (x2 layers) for about $1000. It works really well at keeping dirt & dust off and makes washing very easy.
