So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

How much did you pay for opti-coat?

I got my current car pant corrected and ceramic pro treated (x2 layers) for about $1000. It works really well at keeping dirt & dust off and makes washing very easy.
I had opticoat and since then Brilla for another car. Cost depends on who applies it and what you want it on. I get it done for the wheels as well.

El cheapo opticoat installers try to apply the entire 20ml of opticoat per car. The guy I use does a spray on.

If in Sydney I would send you to Frank of Definitive Detailing. he is happy to do yours on a weekend

Lots, $2700 or something iirc. But then again, it was the entire car (inc wheels), by Opticoat the company themselves and it was opticoat pro+ which includes an initial paint correction and a multi-layer coat, plus longer (7yr) warranty. No regrets.

All this paint talk reminds me of years ago (late 1960's) a guy from Victoria was resident at my UWA college and he had this old FB Holden he would drive back to Vic in the summer break. He came back one year and I saw the car in the distance and noticed it was a new colour.

I said: "Did you get the car painted, Rod?" (The implication being: why?)

He says: "Nah, just went the hardware shop and bought a tin of (probably house paint IIRC) paint and painted it with a brush myself."

I think it probably had a bit of rust or some replaced bits that were odd colours. Anyway, it looked OK in plain white as long as you didn't get too close :D.

They were the days; none of this Opticoat rubbish!:eek::p

I'm definitely getting one of those 'kids these days will never understand' vibes, but as a 27yo I'm absolutely fine with not missing what I've never experienced :p

Boooorrring . Get a life, fella, get a life :D.

I'll even buy the tin of Dulux and the brush if you let me paint the Tesla - red :p:p.

As my car's a shiny black, would definitely pay a pretty penny for the self-cleaning feature.

Same! I have resorted to buying a package deal from my local car wash. One full service clean a month and unlimited '4 min' washes/ hand dry.

Do you drive an older (collectible ) car?

I do not GPH, and until I face up to divesting the two wheeled toys there will no four wheel replacement.
I have been looking about though , which is most of the fun.
A hot beach buggy is currently #1 option although someone doing some work for me has a drop dead gorgeous Lotus super 7
I am really over punting cars and doubt I would ever bother with track days and the like.
A buggy would be a hoot on Straddie or Moreton and fine as a runabout.
How is the b going, looked at a few at a recent show and remembered that you had one.

The B needs new Paint and chrome, otherwise driving OK. Runs rough when cold but once warm, purrs along nicely.
I’m sure there will be lots of other hidden problems come to light. But that’s the joy of driving a 50 year old sports car. :)

Just had my Porsche serviced by Chris at Inline Automotive in Queanbeyan. Amazed by the cars he had in there for work. Several Porsches, Ferrari, Lotus, Lambo etc, even a police pursuit car. No Cossies though.
Anyway the Porsche now has a clean bill of health, new water pump, change of coolant, oil, filter and blowout and vacuum of the 3 front rads and a/c units. The whole front and headlights have to be removed to do this effectively.
Had a new air filter too and it seemed to be quicker when I collected it.
All aok to do another 2000km this year, give or take 500.

Hi Quickstatus,
Which one would you recommend? Opticoat or Brilla? Thinking of getting my A4 Quattro done. And yes, it's a black one!!

A car repair pro in the family thinks paint protection is the biggest con since bitcoin.
I guess if folks believe it works , it does , for them…. a bit like alternate medicine ..
