SMH: Air France jet clips tail of plane at JFK airport

The world's biggest commercial passenger jet has clipped the tail of another plane while taxiing out to depart New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Jim Peters says there were no injuries when the Air France Airbus A380 touched the other plane just after 8pm on Monday.

At first I thought the AF pilot might like to learn to drive better, but it sounds more like the ATC didn’t space the planes adequately.

Not liking their colour scheme for it though, way too much white.

The first class photos made it look very open too… I thought it was business at first.

Have just seen the video and listed to the ATC tapes at the time. From the sounds and looks of things (there were also photos available), the tail of the Embraer CRJ is toast.

And yes, the video from the terminal of the collision is bloody spectacular. A380 treats the CRJ like a kids toy.

Exactly! If you were in the 388 then yes it would have seemed like a clip but if you were in the CRJ then it would have seemed like something completely different!

If push came to shove in the Australian market, perhaps an QF-A380 will take out a V jet in this accidental way lol.

Imagine if the FAs were doing the safety demo when they spun around.
