Yes, everyone is entitled to an opinion that can be expressed! Airing your thoughts on the internet can be an en-lightning experience at times that subsequently changes your own opinion.

I have a little list compiled in my head that I plan on using when things get quiet around here. (Only fair to warn the moderators, I think;))

My original reply to the bald statement, “I wouldn't use "Steward" or "Hostess". Anachronistic, sexist terms” in your first post was merely my non-acceptance of this comment.

Actually inclusion of the definitions suggests otherwise. Your continued reference back to dictionaries and definitions only confirms that you were not doing as you suggest. If you wanted to disagree about my opinion you only had to say so.

I understand that you feel using these descriptors would not be prudent in this situation and there are others who would agree.

Most of these would be from the Industry.

However, this still does not represent my position.

In what way is your position relevant to my opinion? State your opinion if you wish. But you don't need to attack my opinion to do so.

It goes without saying, of course, that I am devastated that you “don't give a flying [insert word]” of my opinions and probably will have difficulty in sleeping tonight as I always look forward to your wisdom.

Why misrepresent what I wrote? Why quote out of context. I said I do not care if you agree with me. That has nothing to do your opinions.

I expressed my opinion it is not up to you to belittle me over that or try to change my mind. As I said I don't care if you agree with me. Build a bridge and get over it.

Sincere apologies for the bug, but it's just a fact of life when living in Australia. If this was frenchfrequentflyer.fr it would be snails trailing all across the screen which would likely be worse.

oh la la.jpg

Now please excuse me, I have to go and exfoliate my feet in the Chairman's Lounge.

You have to do that yourself in there??

If it was frenchfrequentflyer.fr the site would crash repeatedly through lack of staff training!!!!

:p

perhaps, but the taste of the place would be absolutely exquisite!

This has been sent to Qantas as feedback.

Comments - not sure if I will appreciate them but come what may!

I can't get this off my mind was the crew member prepared for an emergency? he certainly was out of step with the other crew members.

................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

I have stewed over this and decided to relay my concerns as to the conduct of a member of your cabin crew on this flight - ****** the last bit on his name tag.) But sat in the crewseat opposite
My seat number was *** my wife in *** in the rear cabin, an exit seat. Directly in front was the crew seat.

Our observations were:

Pre flight this crew member did not wander down to the rear and check all the passengers seat belts or cabin lockers.

Sort of fumbled with arming the door, next was the safety procedure demonstration which was very slack but was consistent of him fumbling around with arming the door and using the intercom?

On takeoff he sat in his seat and placed the seat belt over his shoulders and placed his thumbs near the buckle and clasp, not clipping it up until we started into the take off roll.

Cabin service a meal was served, where all the other cabin crew wore their aprons, this particular steward did not.

Landing in Sydney , this steward did nothing to prepare the cabin for landing, ensuring the passengers seats were upright or belts fastened. (My seat was still back and whilst he sat in the crew seat, he reminded be to put my seat up.)

Whilst the other crew member was at her place, again this steward did not clip up his seat belt till after the wheels were locked down, but still just hooked his thumbs over the belt.

We did have excellent service from the members of the crew which served us, with the Hostess on the LHS of the aircraft exemplified QANTAS’s training and service. (sorry I didn’t catch her name tag but sat opposite *** in the crew seat.) This was in complete contrast to the bling laden Stewart responsible for the aircraft and our safety.

In recent flights I have been rewarded with a much improved quality of service from QANTAS which deserves applause.

i am not seeing the issue in anything you have written? And what you have written seems a collection of anecdotes which you are trying to cobble together to make out a case against the crew member.

You admit you ignored repeated signals and requests* to place your seat in the upright position. if you were waiting for someone to tell you to do this it means you have little understanding for any of the safety concepts you are trying to pin on the FA.

Do you have any concept of the how rear-facing crew seat belts work? Or what they are designed to do? or whether clipping them together makes any difference except for the last few moments of flight before touchdown?

How was the crew member fumbling with the intercom? They are required to be on the intercom once doors are armed to respond to the ISM to confirm doors are armed and equipment has been checked.

Bling laden? Not wearing an apron? What did this guy do to you??

*signals and requests including the instruction for crew to prepare the cabin for landing, a general service announcement for passengers to prepare themselves for landing including table stowage, seat belts and seat backs, the illumination of the seat-belt sign, and finally the crew taking their seats (and still you didn't put your seat up?)

##~ I've had some vile crew members on my trips with QF, so I know how bad they can be, but the things you mention are nothing I'd be writing in about :)
