SIN Lounge Crawl 11 June 2023

Added to Calendar: 11-06-23

And assuming that no one is just going to fly there solely to attend, how do people even sync their schedules?
Actually some people do fly there, often as part of a convoluted itinerary, just to attend.

It's not unknown to meet up in neighbouring countries for a meal en route to the lounge crawl.

Just curious what actually goes on in these "crawls"?
We visit the various lounges in the airport, have a social drink or three. Eat food and critique it.

Regale each other with tales of flights past and often stories of previous lounge runs.
People guest other attendees in if required, e.g. into a first lounge if others don't have the requisite status.

Share tips and tricks on obtaining and retaining status.

Generally lots of fun.

I (sort of) flew to Singapore last year just to go on the crawl.
I wouldn't have travelled at all if the SIN lounge run hadn't been organised. That said I did do a couple of things in Singapore before the crawl.

Been on a few lounge runs over the years, we sync schedules by messaging each other, working out what times people will be where. It can be a little interesting at first because you don't know what we all look like, but it doesn't take long to spot the other strangers looking around.

What actually happens? A whole lot of sitting around, drinking drinks, eating food, and talking about things. About the same as what happens at a pub. The nice thing is we all already have a common interest (travel), so conversation tends to happen fairly easily. We hear stories of trips which people have gone on, the best / worst flights they've taken, interesting things that have been seen, all whilst downing drinks (and not necessarily alcoholic, although beer, G&T's and champagne are very popular choices) knowing that none of us need to drive for at least the next few hours.

Others have given pretty good answers so in summary:

Nothing wrong with just heading to Asia for the crawl. I have actually done it more times than not. And yes we just mosey from lounge to lounge eating and drinking. 😉

Oh, to add to the above, I usually get to the relevant airport about 2 or 3pm. That gives enough time to visit all the lounges and then settle in the favourite or one closest to the departure gate.

Drop me a line @SOPOOR if you are coming and I will give you my mobile so we coordinate where we are on the day.

Lots just fly there solely to attend. I'd be a starter again if not for the ridiculous airfares.

let me say "WOW", to fly to a different country just for one of these lounge meetups is some serious high roller stuff :)
I cant get the likes of Bill gates out of my head now :

thank you jessica, I will definitely keep in mind, i am in no near financial position to be able to fly to a different country just for a meetup, that being said I have plenty of miles!:D

Don't worry. I've heard it not some kind of a secret society or a cult🤣.
There is no "initiation" for junior members
i could imagine a lot of initiation dares for new members.......sneaking into first class, sneaking into the coughpit, dressing up as a pilot

all probably will end you in jail :D

The private room is an SQ lounge which is Star Alliance (*A), and all our lounge runs are One World (*O) centric so they are not compatible.

I wonder if there are any airports where a *A lounge crawl would be worthwhile? (Assuming there were enough people in our group with *G or a J ticket.)

This is where my lack of knowledge shows... I don't even know what the differences are...
I assumed it was all on board being a lounge crawl 😁

FRA?… 😳

That's probably about as good as it gets... if you can put up with the fact it's FRA and you'll probably spend half your lounge time queuing for security or walking 25km to the other terminal :p
Well I am flying out of FRA at lunch time on 30 May, so I will give it a crack!
