Often when I am on the phone at airports it is because my boss has called me with a specific question and thus I do most of the talking
Simon, if someone needs to be on the phone for around an hour, and doing all the talking, then they are, and the majority of the lounge, better off in a private room or out with the masses where noise levels do not matter. I just cannot understand how someone can be on the phone for that long talking non stop. And I mean non stop!

In my opinion the Skyview Lounge in SIN is much better than the QF/BA F lounge and I would say even better than the QF/BA J lounge. I have never encountered any problems with food, drink, noise or internet access in the Skyview lounge. Oh, and there are hardly ever any children around, especially unsupervised and using the computers. Unfortunately when not flying QF/BA I have no choice on which to lounge to use.

You are not married, are you :D .

The F lounge in SIN is great at certain hours. Various posts here have talked about the great food which is walked around at certain times - that is when the lounge is both great and busy. At other times, yes it can be pretty average, and the J lounge is an option then (unless you want to be the only person in the lounge .. as I've been in both the J and F lounges at times in SIN). The F lounge has certain opening hours which I havn't worked out yet. The J lounge seems to be open all the time.

I really don't think the Skyview Lounge at SIN is anyting special. The food is ok, but nothing special. Mmm 2 minute noodles. Dim Sum which has been there for a little while. Average drinks. The view is nice, but nothing I can't get elsewhere in the world - and I'm not that much of a plane spotter to really care who's sitting at the gates. The open atmosphere makes it noisy and makes me want to explore the airport rather than enjoy lounging. I believe they have massage chairs, but never tried them.

Unless anything has changed in the last year, I reckon the following is pertinent.

If you have time and are after hot food, the skyview lounge is fine. Available all day, the dim sum are replaced regularly.

I have had two 12 hours plus transits there in the last 18 months; firstly as a SG, subsequently as a WP.

I wonder if that will change when the A380 is sat at the gates ;)

At the risk of getting flamed - it's just a plane................... :!:

I'd rather sit on it, [daydream]preferably in an F suite with Krug and caviar[/daydream], than stare at it. ;)

OT:

My preference is to wait a few years to allow time for the A380's of the world to get a few million safely flown air-hours before embarking on one. (Same for the 787 as well)

Sounds sensible. I will, most likely, wait until the A380 and B787 have accumulated a few years worth of flying with an impeccable safety record before considering booking any flights.

Nah, Bring on A380's and 787's. Some may think I have a death wish, but TBH, I don't really care.

Certain events that have happened in my life showed me that life doesn't last forever, and that when your time is due, it is due. That kind of makes me immortal (although I do have a fear of falling - work that one out ;) ). It doesn't mean I take risks, but makes me live like every day is my last and to enjoy life.

I will gladly join you in an F lounge run SYD-MEL-SYD on a B787 after they have been flying for a few years at least....
