Which Airline do you fly by choice domestic?

OK, I understand that this will be a tricky question, so for those out in cyberspace who don't understand the question - its when you pay for the flight... not by points but by cold hard cash.... your cash, not the companies or your wifes (mind you I dont mind spending Mrs! stash)....

QF all the way here, unless the price difference with the competition is not insignificant.

I like the benefits of status i.e. the QC and the good seat. I've always been treated well by QF and will continue to use my money for a product that suits me.

While I prefer Qantas, price does come into it. I value the "Qantas Difference" at certain amounts (based on where I am with requal for Qantas Plat, times of flights etc), and happily fly other carriers at times.

My preference is quite simply in order:

Qantas
Virgin Blue
Jetstar
Tiger.

Business travel is 99.9% QF (I did used DJ for one return BNE-SYD a few years ago).

If I was paying for my own leisure travel than I would be happy to shop around and could end up on any depending on my perceived value on the day.

QF here. But its too hard to separate Points/Cash. I fly QF because I earn points then use them for upgrades/rewards. Also I am running a 100% exit row+spare seat/entire row to myself and don't want to annoy the QF gods :)

Not such a simple answer. My airline of choice is definitely QF for both domestic and international. I will look at Virgin if the price difference is significant. I will as much as possible choose QF until I maintain status for the membership year and then it is a free for all.

My airline preferences in order are

Qantas
Virgin
Tiger
Rex
Other (excluding Jetstar)

Airline of preference (and most flown) is Qantas...does not exclude flying on others in the right circumstances.

Hmmm... It seems i am the only Virgin person here. For me i fly 80% for work so the other 20% i prefer to fly Virgin for the status but having said that i will quite happily pay a little extra for QF - having said that there is a limit!

Virgin Blue for me, any day of the week.

My family used to fly AN back in the day but we switched to DJ when they started to service MEL in 2001.

As such, I have never actually flown Qantas.

The flights I have had on Virgin have always been on-time, reasonably priced, and most importantly, excellently serviced. As I don't fly often enough for status to be an issue, I base these decisions on things like value and service, and I know I'll get them on Virgin.

I would prefer Tiger over Jetstar, based purely on the service I get for the price. Having flown both only once (JQ MEL-MCY in late 2006, TT MEL-CBR in Feb 2008) the quality of service I got on Tiger (for a $39 flight, no less) far outweighed what I got on Jetstar.

However, that being said, in mid-July I'll be flying around Asia with the QF group, after which I should have gained a greater appreciation (?) of Jetstar (by then I would have had at least one flight on each of the Jetstars [dom, intl and 3K], as well as on QF intl and dom) so things may change.

But for now:

1. VIRGIN BLUE
2. TIGER AIRWAYS
3. JETSTAR AIRWAYS

?. QANTAS

Although I would prefer to fly QF they dont fly out of MCY so I have choice of DJ or JQ.Then where I fly domestically for the last 18 months has meant a connection to Rex so Rex,DJ,JQ are in order what I have flown.

My response is of course - Fluid, but at this point in time I am quite happy with Jetstar. (Followed by Qantas [let down by prices] & then Tiger [let down by in-flight service & baggage limits].)

I have never actually had a personally paid flight in Oz - all flights have been business funded (on AN, Rex, QF) or points funded - QF.

I recently paid for flights for my family and as QF were more frequent on the route and were in the ball park of the same price.

About 50% of my domestic personal flights have been via points on QF.

For the other 50% I also enjoy the benefits of my WP status so am happy to pay a slight premium to fly QF to help with requalification.

Started flying in the mid to late 70's and have never flown anything but QF domestically. Never! Had a period of flying United in the late 80's when I was flying to Boston every two months, but since then QF only out of Australia and always use partner airlines in the US. Having said that I'm doing Syd - Hnl - Syd with Jetstar *class in November (I hope!) and then AA across the US.

It amazes me how many people have looked at this thread and have not polled!!!

Come on everyone!

Mr!

i fly qantas if it's comparable cost-wise to the others- regular trips to family interstate, often at peak times, self paid. Also have annual trip to Europe for the ptnrs family. Must be J and look at cost / benefit anslysis of one world vs others.....can justify one-world with lounge etc within reason.

The answer isn't always that simple..... if you'd asked me 18-24mths ago it would have been QF all the way. Today, with DJ's improvements I find it difficult to favour QF over them. It depends on price, aircraft type, schedule etc.

If you look at the one route in Australia where there are five carriers flying - MEL-PER, my order would be QF widebody, DJ 737, QF 737, JQ, Tiger, then last SKywest ... only because it goes via KGI.
