SilverKris Lounge Update

I have been given a couple, but I don't know whether it was travel class or status that drove that.

Given I have known that lounge was closed, I have been timing my runs to spend as little time as possible in the airport. It is a fine art to check in with just enough time to clear security and immigration and board the flight not long after (and have bubbles on board).

I had a quick pit stop at Café Vue once and let a young couple use the rest of a voucher. On other occasions I have given them away or walked onto the aircraft with them slipped inside my bag. Probably not meant to give them away, ah well, fat fingers :p

Nice gesture.

:) What's your latest arrival at airport? I've done a T-50 once, and it was a breeze, but wouldn't have met your criteria- still managed 15 mins in the lounge.

Check-in closes 40 minutes before published departure, so normally before that :p

It isn't a practice I encourage, but have done 50 minutes in MEL a couple of times. The worst was 40 and change. Normally I allow 60mins at a minimum, thus giving a buffer for bad traffic (and of course I have OLCIed, so its a reprint rather than a full check in).

In SIN I have missed SQ227 and ended up on SQ237 numerous times. The flight times are friendly enough to get away with that, but it was particularly nasty when 227 was a 388 and 237 was an old 773... Talk about a downgrade :p

Naturally I encourage people to get to the airport when the carrier says they should, lol... (do what I say, don't do what I do :p)

Great to hear its open. I'm flying out on the 28th and looking forward to checking out the refurb. Wasn't overley impressed with the shared Temporary lounge 4 weeks ago ....

i didn't see it mentioned but they are serving food from Cafe Vue in the Bus lounge (probably F too I guess).

I flew to SIN on 238 last monday and Shannon Bennett and his family were also on the same flight (Shannon and Madeline in J with their baby and the nanny and 3 other younguns back in Y). He spend a bit of time with the staff from the lounge and the Cafe Vue team inspecting the spread. I've previously been unimpressed with the Cafe Vue fare, but the hot bacon and egg brioche buns were good, even if the cold salmon buns were ordinary.

OT for SKL updates - but in PVG last week SQ check-in were handing out voucher for F and J pax to wine and dine at Voyager Bar on upper level of departures - never experienced this before:

Clear indication that SQ have finally come to realisation that Chinese Lounges - in this case SAL (Shanghai Airlines Lounge) in PVG which almost ALL intl carriers use is just not up to scratch - like some of us have been telling them for years.

It always amazes me how people enquire about Chines Lounges here on AFF and some members post that they seem to think they are adequate - IMHO ALL F and J Lounges in PVG and PEK really are quite sh*tfull - (I have never been in the Emirates or Cathay Lounges in PEK) - but clearly that is subjective.

Have not dep PEK since early June so not sure if they are doing the same their also.

Was in the Business Lounge a couple of days after opening in June.

New make-over looks much better, and there is no greater choice in types of seating.

Drink offerings are good, but food is still only quite ordinary. Was limited to "afternoon tea" offerings, with a few hot nibbles on top of this. We arrived at lunchtime for an afternoon flight, and so I thought that this was quite poor.

My daughter still like the gourmet ice-cream though (which they have had too on past visits.) But only one flavour choice on the day we were there.

I agree. Most Chinese airport lounges I have been in are rather average, and are often only slightly less crowded than the terminal.

Domestic is far worse than International.

Yes, often only slightly less crowded, as you say, and for the rest of the time more crowded. Once at CGQ, we sat on the chairs outside the lounge (there were none inside the lounge, although it was fairly small), and were allowed to come in and out to access refreshments.

+1.
As because mostly they are shared lounges of some description & some of the passengers mobile phone etiquette (at times) is notably less than desirable.

Also great to see that SKL in SIN - both F and J - have finally put some decent hooks in the showers instead of those ridiculous 'button' hooks that have been their since T3 built. Remember they had coat hangers hanging on the hooks in F because you just could not get your clothes to hang on those tiny buttons?

First noticed them in early June and forgot to post pic.
