MEL completion of upgrade was only 4mths overdue - so if SYD advertising Nov opening based on historical data I guess you could plan on Mar completion date. :D

FWIW MNL re-opening was also months behind schedule.

This is from SQ website...obviously hasn't been updated.

Worldwide SilverKris Lounges

Looks like that is the case.

However the news page has been updated recently:

Temporary closure of SilverKris lounge at Sydney airport

Singapore Airlines' SilverKris Lounge at Sydney Airport is currently undergoing renovation works until mid-December 2013.

In order to minimise inconvenience to customers during the renovation period, arrangements have been made for Suites, First Class and Business Class customers, as well as PPS Club, KrisFlyer Elite Gold, and eligible Star Alliance Gold members to use Star Alliance partner Air New Zealand's Lounge, located in the T1 International Terminal, on the Third Level of Pier C. We regret that customers will not be able to bring a guest to the Air New Zealand Lounge. Conditions will apply for Platinum and Gold Velocity Members travelling in Economy Class, subject to availability.

Singapore Airlines apologises to customers for any inconvenience caused by these temporary arrangements and looks forward to unveiling Singapore Airlines' new lounge design in Sydney.

Lost cause in the T1 terminal MNL.. Whole place should be bulldozed!
Don't think I have posted these pics before - I think it says more about Filipino culture than standard of SKL lounges - this was before renos in MNL:

And some helpful advice - ok for the ladies - at least they have a handbag to take theirs away with them - but not so easy for us guys to tuck into your pocket!

Looks like the SKL in Sydney has reopened - look forward to hearing anyone's feedback.
Sitting in the new SQ Krisfler lounge at SYD this morning. Very smart, muted tones, great view out towards Botany Bay. Good selection on offer for breakfast. Seating similar layout to SIN lounge. Staff very friendly and frequently walking through the lounge offering to get beverages, pastries etc - haven't experienced that before. A small area near the entrance perhaps for a quick coffee or a quiet space away from the main area. At check in we were told it had only been open a couple of days and it appears it has been a planned 'soft opening' which explains no announcement on the SQ website.

I take it that's the J section? Is there a first too?

Good to hear.

Going to try out the SKL F class lounge in Melbourne this weekend, I hope it is a completely quiet place with lots of food? Taking the 1:00am flight, so would expect something special from the kitchen I hope.

Last time the business class lounge was filled with passengers, can't even find a single seat, and had to settle for a table in front of a phone!

Better luck this time I hope!

You will have plenty room in MEL F my friend - prolly 30 odd seats in there and usually 4 or 5 max pax - don't get your expectations up too high on the food though.

Thanks Cruiser, this is my first time on SQ F class from Melbourne to London, so my blood vessels are already pumping real hard now!

Might try to take 2 glasses of Krug before the flight take off to put myself to sleep for the first 5 hours I hope. Might even skip the breakfast I feel.

Not sure if they provide any clothing for the Melb to SIN leg? If not, then I will bring mines then to make sure I sleep well.

Melb flight on Sunday 1:00am, are you on this one as well?? haha
No I am not on that but YES any o/n flt and you will get PJs in F.

I never use their NEW PJs as they make me too hot - I always BYO old t-shirt and old pj bottoms - I keep the NEW SQ pjs unopened and once I have 4 or 5 sets I take them to old peoples home not far from where I live which houses large number of residents with no money / no family / no friends so they really appreciate them.

You will have Champers in MEL F lounge not the cheap Aussie bubbles in J - it will be Moet or Piper or something similar. Rita or Rico will be on front desk prolly - tell them chocolate man loves them.

Board as soon as boarding starts - that will enhance your Krug time pre-push back - then have a couple more in air before shut eye - I always skip brekkie on that flt - yeah I know it's a shame missing an F meal but the brekkie in Private Room better than what you get on-board IMHO. When you enter SIN SKL F Lounge keep walking straight ahead past food section on your left and do a little left hander into PR - just say good morning and keep walking as you flash your onward BP at them - look like you own the place and you will get auto entry into PR - hell you may even be first pax in PR that morning..

What time your onward flt?

Yes thanks for all your advice Cruiser, from memory, my next flight is 9:15am, so only about 3.5 hours waiting time. As you suggested, I'll keep the PJs and try to bring it home for anyone in need :)

I heard that the Kris Flyer first class lounge in Singapore is a sit down restaurant? Thats based on the feedback of my mum. I better get myself hungry, as you say, and skip breakfast on the plane, and try to enjoy the food in the Singapore lounge. I only did the "Book to Cook" thing on my Sin to LON leg.

As you know from my previous post, I better keep my Suite class ticket when I return from London, since I never fly that before.

Thanks again mate!

Yes F Lounge in SIN is sit down but there are 2 sections - Private Room where you want to be is far end of F Lounge and in through another entrance - as I said head straight there and just waltz in - once you are parked there you can shower - eat - wander and explore - Veuve La Grande Dame in PR too - do not worry about it being early - 7am SIN time = 9pm Rio - perfect time to be sipping a few champers.
